Just In Time for Summer

Oriental fashion and the kimono, amazon india fashion week

While our city has been swallowed by financial troubles, and demonization has become a legit excuse for not indulging in fashion at the moment, the Indian fashion movement has a very low key vibe unless things take off fully after another season of Amazon India fashion week scheduled to happen in March.

Today I am going to emphasize a little more on the traditional rather than the modern , and after the mainstream use and strangulation of the word FUSION, I think we should open a poll on what should we call this form of dressing  ? From subtle fusion , to horrendous fusion, my few grey hair have seen it all . And since we are doing this poll, maybe think about a new term for " FASHION BLOGGER " too ?
Blogging industry needs so many new names . Five years before, it was a different charm to explain to someone what you do , exchanging cards, telling them how blogging is the new age of fashion.
Now even my neighborhood DHOBI knows about fashion bloggers . " Kal hee madam aayi thee photographer ke saath !! Boli main fashion blogger hoon , aapke yahan photo lena hai "
Clearly the Fashion blogger wind has reached places , and the bloggers have left the stable and are running wild down the road influencing as per their own capabilities/incapabilities

Why are Medical or legal/financial services blogs not mushrooming like the fashion or lifestyle blog? The answer is a no brainer, coz neither you require a professional degree nor a formal education of the subject, nor ownership of a requisite number of dresses/accessories/footwear.And the best is that you need not even have the vague sense of fashion styling or even dressing up. It adds to your snob value if you do not possess writing skills. It really takes talent to misspell words and rephrase( make a hash ) idioms as per ones personal sensibility or translation skills (from Hindi to English ).Well, no one has got a Literature award for writing correct English on a Blog but who knows one day such fractured english may win you an Ingenious Award for Fusion English. If Singaporeans are proud of their Chinglish, why can't we be for our Hinglish...?? After all we are the koll centre ( call centre )of the world. Don't believe me !!! Sample this-  "The whether these days is "magicfull" so I opened the window and let the atmosphere come in "

Since the Fashion and Lifestyle Industry has decided to slowly phase out the following Influencers who have a decent sense of fashion, knowledge of styling, updated on the latest or upcoming trends, interacting with designers, engaging writing skills, fresh talent would be inducted in the next financial year.
So come one come all. Criteria for joining the Fashion Influencer community is us under .You can be an eligible blogger if you are:
1.Shuffling between jobs (part time or just for fun )
2.Out of a job and taking a sabbatical (read unable to fool the next employer )
3.Modelling ( you will automatically be pushed four ranks up ) and utilizing the time between assignments
4.Run out of money, boyfriend has thrown you out .Want to get even with the evil world.
5.Page 3 aspirants (preference would be given to candidates who could murder to get a selfie with Sonam Kapoor or any of their favourite movie stars )
6. Fashion week bloggers - Bloggers who attend to get their own Paparazzi moment in front of a street style photographer and has no interest what happens on the ramp. Talk to them about any show, and swear you would regret bringing the topic up . Forget about the show- There is so much confusion in what season they are attending .

Wow ! Everything in this fashion world is worth inspiration . Honesty does not flow very easily. Its effect is yet to come and you may hate me as of now. But I truly hope that I am able to wash down everything here.
Okay Surbhi - STOP Enough........ Breathe In ...... Breathe out ......
Now since my rant is over, enjoy the outfit I wore for AIFWSS17 which took place in the month of October - Treat this as your season hint and grab that Cuppa coffee now.

Blue Lips | Fringes and Frills

Wednesday, 9 December 2015 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

fashion week elle street style, vogue street style looks
Have the fringe fever got you yet ? This year all I would be focussing on is fringes
Yes you heard me !!
Today's look is mingled seamlessly with two new trends, which are now so commonplace, that they went on from being a statement to wardrobe staples, that could set anyone lusting after them.
That's where my blue lips also came in , probably for a second time in one year.
I didn't want to do romantic, I didn't want to do pretty, and I didn't want to do glamorous(think those pretty frills on the blouse ), I wanted to do something that wasn't so refined !! Yes, we have blue lips for those unlikely days, a better word  - unlikely combinations which makes this look mind-warping. Otherwise how do you get an Erratic edge ?
Seriously, I have stepped out from my comfort zone , way too much since a few months, still keeping my looks unbecomingly away from anything editorial(magazine like) and more real.
Fashion should  be just like making eggs. An Omelette, basically. Everyone should be able to do it effortlessly. The difference  could be of an exotic  ingredient or two, and that should engineer  enough in getting the whole potpourri of your dish together.
The people from Romwe, sent me the suede fringe skirt. It is not only a standout , rather an evocative piece in current fashion norm.
Hope u liked this blueeyy look, if yes, then a few gentle comments with an opportune nod are always welcome :) If you have any harsh words, well as of now you keep them to yourself.

Inspired By Fashion Week

Sunday, 12 July 2015 / , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Today's outfit is a Re-Run of a sneak peek u all would have seen, during Fashion week days. Its finally making it to the blog , yes thank god .
For most of us who make it to the lavishness of the fashion week with its own dress codes and haunts, its a fantasy on the runway, while the others gaped their phones and their favourite fashion people live streamed pictures on Instagram. Fashion show days have a different kind of vibe.
Taking the leverage of these events, we common mortals(btw you can easily identify these people at fashion week) fingers tapping on phone, slowly strolling the venue, eye contact minimal, sipping tea and in between pointing phones at a mirror for pictures to cover on the blog.Basically Low profile that is.
While there are those flaunting their guccis in the face, air-kissing with designers , talking as loud as they could with a verbal fashion diarrhea and  some slangs which I don't understand, a walk which would put a shame to any online couture queen, papped by new interns(you would find them  on second row and how ?) who specifically stalked these self -acclaimed diva(s) on Instagram only to the day where they could bolster their online validation and rub a few goody bags in the face of their deprived friends boasting about their fashion connections.
I know for a fact that fashion has a hierarchy. The influencers like editorials wears anything which speak more directional pieces, buyers -more of commercial dressing , while its the bloggers who care about creative  and original design  and  good craftsmanship.
They explore,  translate runway fashion to convertible fashion(budget it too , if need be) for a thousands of those who doesn't know how it's done. To me, they are the actual influencers who pay attention to designers collection and then closely create items heavily influenced by or have similar elements and manage to stay on "Point " And its when they actually irrigate the garden of Self-Made.
So all my lovely bloggers out there- Just  believe in your HYPE, keep doing the awesome work you do coz  REAL-ITY is made up of being  Real, and you all are the only ones having that.

P.S- This is just a rant, an observation, and doesn't mean to hurt anyone's emotional balance. Take it in good humour .

Flower Hair Updo with Sheer Cape Blouse and Wrap Skirt

Friday, 10 April 2015 / , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

floral cape
Fashion week is over, and its time to share some of my best dressed moments on the blog. It was that time of the month when we got our finger on the fashion pulse. The week struck me completely into redoing fashion differently, and that's when I started playing with my closet, and hair to be more precise. Since I am blessed with a circular face cut and head in retrospect, anything which sits around that part of my asset , looks pretty . A lot of people snapped me on the venue and they made sure that they capped the flower right. I told them it was inspired by the nature, and hence the floral cape /blouse (which btw is from my own label) and this match is kinda seemingly putting everything in place for me.
I decided to play with mono colors ,hence wore this stitched wrap skirt , from House of SBJ which comes with an equally pretty  blouse. But switching things up , made the two separates a total charm and a much better put together look.
Have a look. Also don't forget to pause and give a moment to these shoes. I know they deserve their own admiration space.

Jewelry Inspiration and Indian Ethnic Fusion Wear

Wednesday, 1 April 2015 / , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Offbeat fashion sensibilities whipped up with over abused resources is where my forte lies. Like today I am wearing this architectural print inspired W Kurta with a skirt which was bought parallel to my blogging journey. The blog stayed well, and so did this skirt and that too ,in a condition where I could boast of my upkeeping skills.
The Scarf is done up which meets up the accent of this Indian Wear, and in a modern drama, where it could switch places from my neck and land up on the head into a Scarf turban/Bun and apparently into a much better vision angle so that I could flaunt these cover-ups if they would want to seek some attention of its own.
Living in the new fashion genre where mixing prints has a very spontaneous take on fashion, and gets very tricky especially for those who wants to escape a judging glare, this is my generous dose on attempting the same. I stuck with the basic, just one color approach. So if you couldn't ever figure out  the correct balance, I would say the right technique would be just to not involve a lot of color drama or go for a Chaotic impression ( which sure does when many colors add upto many prints) rather just make this kind of tricky fashion in an appropriate mend with black n whites instead.
If you ask me, this fusion outfit could easily take you to your office desk, and a so much better way to transform the boring kurtas hanging in your closet and wear them in a fun way to work. ie with skirts.
Coming to the jewelry, as much as I love my Elite Jewelry to take me through events n glitz, I like to play around as much with mundane stuff in an non-mundane placement, Like wearing a roadside bought  earring and that too in one lobe.Of course the other side is enjoying the dark shadow of my swept up hair. And these gold with pseudo studded detailing pointed sunglasses, don't just dare and say that they don't count for jewelry. It took me half n hour to make up my mind on these.

Now tell me. Does this print mixing thing goes with a slew of fun or u have a thumbs pointing down on my take ?

Romantic Make-up and Day Look For Valentine Feat. India Circus

Saturday, 14 February 2015 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

The Countdown to  "Be my Valentine" has just about started . Besides being the "Love Month" February is also the month , when most of us say " I Do", coz its the month of weddings too. As a couple, I love a mushy mushy push to this day, by fate coz we are celebrating 10 years of marriage as well, just a day before V day, and to begin with, he has already got something crazy for me, which you can lay your drool worthy eyes on ,through my Instagram feed :)
Talking of ways to flaunt the best outfit for the day(previous post here) I am certainly having a bent towards everything blush and pink these days,And if you don't remember, let me remind you that I am wearing the same dress over this year for my Valentines week. The previous post being This !! See !! I think there is a sub-conscious mind-meld happening or could be the ricochets  of my previous Valentine karma, that is making me  bounce back and grab the same dress, and wear it differently. Plus I wanted the focus to be my New glasses(which u can shop), so safe to say, I spinned the rest masterfully to create a style similarity yet in a different concoction. So if you haven't seen a soft , romantic, feminine side of me on the blog , Read- "Valentines made me do it " well then lets , say Hello, until we meet again !!
This look couldn't be complete, without adding this quirky Zing Sling bag via India Circus. I love it, its still being a lot like me, and just what I wanted to go with the neutrals.  This bag makes up for a great idea to gift her something out of the box, Lets one break from the status quo and would light up her eyes too..  Coz lets say it, Its delicate, brownie score for a great print, and point on quality.

Geetanjali Salon Delhi- My Hair Color Experience

Thursday, 18 December 2014 / , , , , , , ,

Hair coloring is the new -"Makeup for Hair " and it cannot be overlooked coz self confidence is factoring into self-image lately. Need a boost of confidence ? Or wanna change the way people perceive about you ? Then better be the color chameleon !!
Its been two months since I got "High- Art "Red highlights from Geetanjali Salon. I loved the whole experience and my priceless look post that, which fetches me lot of compliments(till date ). Not to forget, it was first time I experimented with different colors. And with the tiny maintenance , I was able to retain the color for this long too.
The people at Geetanjali's knows my love for being wacky, hence called me over last week for a session with the industry's most consulted color expert- Sumit Israni, for hair color assessment, and add on some more color to my hair and persona .

Brand Spotlight : Femella.In

Tuesday, 9 December 2014 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Today's Brand Spotlight is on Femella.in. They organized a bloggers preview of their A/W collection last month(delhi/ncr) and we had the privilege to check into the new stuff and feel what they had in store for us these winters. Capes have taken over the trend game, and we love showing them off don't we ? So the minute I spotted this tulip cape on their website, I was thinking these gnarly glasses, A 90's look, some teased hair, and a Ribbon headband. Although what's missing here is a scrunchie and I won't lie if I tell you that I had George Michael running in mind , but lets leave that for next time to set in.
Femella.in has a line of trendy outfits at unbeatable price. Their fleece collection is weather appropriate and the minute I ran my hands through the cloth, I felt that it was pretty apt for the winter chills we face in Delhi. The collection is not only updated, of course in vibrant flashes of earthy silhouettes, seen both in fleece and mesh fabrics in red, blue, and black palettes, but each item brings out a cool n dynamic athletic vibe at prices that won't put a hole in ur Purse.
Besides this look, I call this outerwear the Show piece of all the outfits coz(yeah not only it swings me back to 90s) but  there are an innumerable ways that this could be styled, plus with a new twist in the cut, and Hi-Lo detailing  I can't wait to show off what more I could do with their collection.
Among other exotic elements, I love the effect these velvet leggings are lending it out to make the outfit more tangy and saucy. So let me just warm up to more ideas of wearing this cape in many other ways, and bring these styles for you to embrace, till then, give Femella.in a peek an tell me what you think ?
