Just In Time for Summer

Oriental fashion and the kimono, amazon india fashion week

While our city has been swallowed by financial troubles, and demonization has become a legit excuse for not indulging in fashion at the moment, the Indian fashion movement has a very low key vibe unless things take off fully after another season of Amazon India fashion week scheduled to happen in March.

Today I am going to emphasize a little more on the traditional rather than the modern , and after the mainstream use and strangulation of the word FUSION, I think we should open a poll on what should we call this form of dressing  ? From subtle fusion , to horrendous fusion, my few grey hair have seen it all . And since we are doing this poll, maybe think about a new term for " FASHION BLOGGER " too ?
Blogging industry needs so many new names . Five years before, it was a different charm to explain to someone what you do , exchanging cards, telling them how blogging is the new age of fashion.
Now even my neighborhood DHOBI knows about fashion bloggers . " Kal hee madam aayi thee photographer ke saath !! Boli main fashion blogger hoon , aapke yahan photo lena hai "
Clearly the Fashion blogger wind has reached places , and the bloggers have left the stable and are running wild down the road influencing as per their own capabilities/incapabilities

Why are Medical or legal/financial services blogs not mushrooming like the fashion or lifestyle blog? The answer is a no brainer, coz neither you require a professional degree nor a formal education of the subject, nor ownership of a requisite number of dresses/accessories/footwear.And the best is that you need not even have the vague sense of fashion styling or even dressing up. It adds to your snob value if you do not possess writing skills. It really takes talent to misspell words and rephrase( make a hash ) idioms as per ones personal sensibility or translation skills (from Hindi to English ).Well, no one has got a Literature award for writing correct English on a Blog but who knows one day such fractured english may win you an Ingenious Award for Fusion English. If Singaporeans are proud of their Chinglish, why can't we be for our Hinglish...?? After all we are the koll centre ( call centre )of the world. Don't believe me !!! Sample this-  "The whether these days is "magicfull" so I opened the window and let the atmosphere come in "

Since the Fashion and Lifestyle Industry has decided to slowly phase out the following Influencers who have a decent sense of fashion, knowledge of styling, updated on the latest or upcoming trends, interacting with designers, engaging writing skills, fresh talent would be inducted in the next financial year.
So come one come all. Criteria for joining the Fashion Influencer community is us under .You can be an eligible blogger if you are:
1.Shuffling between jobs (part time or just for fun )
2.Out of a job and taking a sabbatical (read unable to fool the next employer )
3.Modelling ( you will automatically be pushed four ranks up ) and utilizing the time between assignments
4.Run out of money, boyfriend has thrown you out .Want to get even with the evil world.
5.Page 3 aspirants (preference would be given to candidates who could murder to get a selfie with Sonam Kapoor or any of their favourite movie stars )
6. Fashion week bloggers - Bloggers who attend to get their own Paparazzi moment in front of a street style photographer and has no interest what happens on the ramp. Talk to them about any show, and swear you would regret bringing the topic up . Forget about the show- There is so much confusion in what season they are attending .

Wow ! Everything in this fashion world is worth inspiration . Honesty does not flow very easily. Its effect is yet to come and you may hate me as of now. But I truly hope that I am able to wash down everything here.
Okay Surbhi - STOP Enough........ Breathe In ...... Breathe out ......
Now since my rant is over, enjoy the outfit I wore for AIFWSS17 which took place in the month of October - Treat this as your season hint and grab that Cuppa coffee now.

Things To Do In China, Shopping | Foshan | Guangzhou | Shanghai . OOTD- CHINA STREET STYLE

Friday, 19 August 2016 / , , , , , , , , , , ,

Bringing the back with a bang look. If you missed me then you probably know I was in China, and if you didn't then maybe I am in danger for overestimating your interest in my blog.
Just so you know , my summers were more inherently summery than yours , more Disney oriented, and more Chinese food driven.
That's why I am back here to delicately start a conversation on what you should do in China . After squeezing in about about three cities - Foshan, Guangzhou and Shanghai in my 12 day itinerary, and attracting a diverse blend of Chinese with our street style shoots, I am here to share a little  tour diary of things you should do in China.
I got a couple of few Insta stories ( which was a new Instagram feature added just a day before I left which also saved me the hassle of taking photos within one minute of arriving giving me much photo posting clarity. Blessed !!!!
The best feeling was the great feedback given by those on the receiving end of those founts of stories, and interest in my travel, which encouraged me to hack into VPN and enable Instagram coz every other world social platform is barred in China.
While a lot of you may feel that I am biting on the fresh figs of life, which actually I was, but came with a lot of walking and a big big language barrier.
Our landing port was Guangzhou, and  it took us an hour drive to check in at Foshan.
Just so you know, Foshan is a veritable destination and worldwide hub for furniture, lights and for everything your home needs.
Visited the Chimelong water park, (Asia's No3 , )which was a waste for a non adventurous person like me, especially when those thrilling water rides scare me to death.
Nevertheless its a heaven for kids, and my daughter had a Ball and she made our money back with freqyent display of excitement.
I wore a simple cotton  dress with lace trims by Stalk Buy Love, and my cone bag and the  Floral sandals from Sammydress Clothing  being the highlight of the day were praised by many as I ventured outside our Hotel Fortuna ,to shoot some street style.
Must recommended place to stay, as the food is crazy and if you are a Vegetarian like me, you won't be starved.
The minute we started shooting, it looked like everyone needed my attention, as around 20 people took out their phones and started recording the terrific stuff we do in India(take street photos ). This ice cream cone bag caught the fancy of everyone , which arrived in 7 days (super quick delivery ) from the website . Despite being the centre of attraction at approx 9 A.M, I also did weird things on special request, for e.g posing to eat the ice-cream.
Language was no barrier then as sign language and friendly laughs ruled and after a dozen Chinese got what they wanted and took my exclusive expressions home, I am now wondering ,if they ruined my groove at my expense ??
Coming back to Foshan, the lighting city and a few shopping malls at Zhongshan are a must visit if you are shopping for home/ interiors.
Leaving you all with truck load of pics.
Next up is things to do in Shanghai and a lot of shopping finds.
Ciao xx

The Sari Chronicles By Satomi | IndianWear

How To Wear The Blue Lipstick Trend And Look Hot

Subtly and gracefully like butterflies fluttering out of black cocoons I tend to embrace an orgy of colours and patterns like never before.
There are some outfits which just naturally sharpen the habitual elegance , tipped with brightness so vivid, that it catches the fancy of everyone around.
Recently I came across Satomi, an exclusive Indian Wear women clothing brand who bring colours and prints to this dull monsoon like never before. Their approach to this world of digitalized prints brings a feeling of verdant nature embedded in every Sari, giving life as if you are a part of an overindulgent feast. It's not easy for a brand to catch my eye unless some diversity is offered trying to do something different ,even the technique matters here because everyday is a struggle for style bloggers to give a deeper dimension to the  individual style and much variety to the fashion informed audience. Because people tend to get bored. Forget them, even I tend to get bored, and need a shift from the chic cult to something more varied and endearing.
This Sari has that romantic simplicity which take simple print into a world beyond ordinary.  It weaves the ethnic into an urban presentation fit for an urban setting and the versatility of being right as a perfect dress for the cocktail night . I wore it for one of the days at the India Couture week  (the centre point of inspiration for our big fat Indian wedding)
The outfit so much added up to the sense of fashion madness already vibing the venue and soon it became the talk of the evening. Blue lips and the print of the Sari were the real converters of great conversations for the night and girls stopped me everywhere to take photos.
I love it when the garments give an appealing look with still and small voice of calm. Blazed against the rich green gardens of Hotel Taj Palace Delhi , it gave a very refreshing summer spirit to the look. I almost looked like a walking Graffiti for a minute , Bewildering the staff one blue lip at a time, which was actually appalling coz it took their preying eyes a while to figure out what was happening as I was busy having my paparazzi moment throwing away my Pallu ,cocooning my shoulders with all my might up in the air in some photos, well not to mention my passionate natural aura of potential fails. Haha. I wish we could capture their open mouthed expressions until their senior came and announced time out.
Besides the Sari I hope the complimenting jewellery and this choker which I DIY'ed myself (coughs***) have also gagged your attention? Your thoughts in the comments make my day.
Oh BTW I am in Shanghai this week . Follow me on Snapchat (user id- thefashionflite ) coz you have freakin no inkling idea of the heavenly shopping I am gonna take you through . Wait and Watch !!!

Move Over Cannes Lilac - It's time for some Violet Lips

Friday, 20 May 2016 / , , , , , , , , ,

Sometimes our clothes should reflect the power we want , rather than the power we have. The prototype of power dressing keeps changing when the trends evolve which is now at a pace all fashionistas have to cope up fast. There is a new kind of democracy emerging in the fashion world, which brings a new wave of blood to the fashion sector and then you can hell do with whatever the freaking shit you want for the sake of  being an emerging fashionista and they will think that you are part of the flow. When things become cutting edge they evoke a spark, just like Aishwarya Rai's Lilac lips at the Cannes festival 2016. I may bear the risk of sounding snob, but what was all that going *drools* my gawd reaction ? What was so extraordinary about it that it shocked the system ?  From becoming a full size feature with headlines like " Breaking Cannes Red Carpet rules ", this lilac bomb exploded everywhere.
Lilac, blue green , black lippies have been arresting lip colours, and are meant for the drama queens and rebel punks. The bold lips aficionados, have been there all over the internet, and they are called beauty and sometimes fashion bloggers. We have traded in our lip gloss with these bold lips, and have put up everything online for you all to see. Some failed and some applauding comments later, we still stand here with some cutting edge lips that may put the makers of smurfs to shame. We are not perfect, but we try, we fail, we again try and so on. So my question is are the fashion writers(print and digital ) so dumb to only accept a trend when a celebrity "Twilights" them ? For starters, " baby the hibernation period is over" , and it's time for you to forecast trends much before bloggers do. The moment is nothing when its ripe, and in this case, everyone scrambling to replicate the crisp news, was rather shocking to see them suddenly awakening to the cyber presence with headlines like "new trends to watch out for "
Today's post is my reaction to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's lilac lips. Thank god I did not put up this post earlier, although having shot this look early this month.
I am wearing a deep violet lip shade (mixed two shades to get the result ). Although this post would have been about this lovely skirt from Roora By Ritam, but this Aish lilac lips was creating too much smog over the internet, and needed some dusting off .
I always wanted a skirt in a perfect hue of blue. When I opened the package, this was exactly my kinda blue dipped in a little bit of ombre from the bottom. It was a hotty day and every windy second was precious while I kept on waiting for my twirly moment. That didn't happen but what happened as a result of glares and stares from the people surprised by an overwhelming look, made us suspend the twirl moment , and leave that for some other outfit post.

Fur And Party Blazer Guide For Winters | Stalk Buy Love - Part 2

Sunday, 24 January 2016 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

No matter how much I hate dressing up in winters, every other weekend of mine is usually out. Currently if we monitor our Delhi temperatures going as low as 4 Degrees, my hand always reach out for my  my Parka, function before fashion, a prototype that every Delhwala would not fail to demonstrate .
But every women needs a blazer or two for that outdoor barbeque or a nighttime bonfire, even though it doesn't  stand up against the bitter wind chills  well at least they turn the heat up  .
I have had my share of bling and prints before with blazers. But what was missing from my wardrobe was a well structured Black blazer.A perfect Black blazer is a brilliant bet to excite ,quick to throw on and can be easily layered with just anything formal or casual.
This is my second  blazer post with STALK BUY LOVE and if you haven't read the first one you can read that here.
The best part about Black blazers is that it can immediately change the tone of your outfit making it adapt to the situation you are in. Infact every women should be a proud owner of a tasteful black blazer in her closet. If you are clueless on the fit and what options you should bargain for, start with a plain , then maybe add variation in style like, double collar, double breasted, double lining etc.
I love the outlined hems, chaste yet, structured peplum edges of this one, and since the outside temperatures demanded that I layer up, hence very convincingly I also added this snug over the shoulders fur cape to add a bit of glamour in a flip .
The beautiful bracelet sent by Rhea Jewellery aligned nicely to create a spice like look with those green feathers and golden charms.
If you have been meandering in circles, and totally clueless on how to take your blazers through winters, I do hope that my Blazer Editions take that dilema off  and help you tiptoe through the tulips of  colour and glamour , so that a stylish transition to winter evenings gives you all a chance to build a solid and stylish blazer wardrobe  .

Inspired By Earthy Tones

Monday, 10 August 2015 / , , , , , , , , , , ,

boho chic, boho clothing , boho clothing in india

In a big city like Delhi, amid the noise, and action, where youngsters are known for having loud sartorial choices, going minimal sometimes turns people's head .
White is a timeless colour, and anything that is against it, looks even better. Hence instead of favouring a pure white on white look , (which was the sole purpose of me getting these co-ords ) I instead chose to panoply the cacophonous patterns ,earthy tones on the edge, and evoke a victorian feel. Victorian, coz the scarf and these beautiful semi-precious dazzling earrings
This white outfit was a big blank canvas , and I made it whatever I wanted it to be. The green printed boho clutch , stands out and screams earthy, albeit in a subtle way. I couldn't have thought of a better way to style the pretty tassels
I don't have a perfect lifestyle to keep the colours originally white after a while. Those beautifully laid out buffet tables of JW Marriot,(which after scrolling down below, u may just spot) later spinned the tales of how I spilled watermelon juice on the skirt which earlier was a mellow version of absence of colour , but not really !
I am not sure too, if I can ever work a total virginal white-washed look,  considering my vulnerability to spillage, and  like my other fashion -pace-setters do it in an eloquent manner,
As far as I remember, I had always found it safe to keep away from whites, but my little slippage to this optimistic trend gives me a sense of perfection.
Cheers to bridging the distance, and here's to more connoisseuring tennis club style in near future ;)

MoDa Parisian Feat. Amiclubwear

Sunday, 2 August 2015 / , , , , , , , , ,

denimjeans ,parisstreetyle
Since I am still enmeshed in the throws of weather grey's, the good thing is that I can still take out time to put the humid climate woes aside , and dress up all bright and steady , as if I have just returned from my trip to Paris. Yes, that's what this look has been recreated for.
Thank you Amiclubwear for introducing me to this denim maxi dress, I had always wanted in my wardrobe, but couldn't find the perfect length , color , style ,sleeves etc,(btw they have a lot of styles in these ) and this "Bon-Jour " sling that makes me complete my quirky statement ,along with these chill out reflectors which totally helped me take this denim dress to a more fashionable territory.
This look is an Art for self rather than carrying out any vertiginous trend. Yeah I know, I have always come out louder to be a trend follower(it says on most of my Bio on the socials-*Insert emoji*)but it was for the first time, I dressed with a joy of not being on a fashion calendar.
Went out shopping, the day was windy, my hat blew most of the time , and then handed over back again, the shoes were made for walking , and I had that Red lipstick oomph, and a RBF (resting bitch face) in between if someone came upto me to sell something.
I am so loving the quality of the goodies sent , that it would be not right mentioning it again and again. Love to work with fashion brands, which are not only affordable , rather do not slacken on the quality for a quick fame. The products look trendy , emerging, and functional and definitely wins my vote of confidence amongst the plethora of online fashion brand names.

Indian Wedding Wear | Dhoti Sari

Tuesday, 27 January 2015 / , , , , , , , , , , ,

I know, I had been lazy to post this look, until up recently I got a mail asking about this outfit(fashion week days). I didn't know, some of you check out my feed and old pics from last year "happy feeling".You all know, I like to spruce things up a bit as in whipped-up-in-the-blender-style which now isn't that hard to categorize.
Off late my shopping has become more of what suits my sensibilities with a shelf life beyond a mere trend, where, I could bring in some creativity of my own.
Its 2015, and if now's not the time when we think that our Indian wear should be more grown up than before , where we could communicate in terms of  more in design language than all B-Blingaaa then don't know when. Its the time, where belt rules alongside a Sari, Pants have replaced the underskirt, and blouses come in filters of their own, or better still, Collars of their own. Even sari's have name of their owns- In this case Dhoti sari, a particularly pointed Name, told at fashion expense. With pieces like these falling in the stores, I am already giving a contemporary nod sprinkled with modern fusion where Sari's certainly have a whiff of the archives about them.
So tell me who wouldn't love this Sari ?
P.S- Its time to get out of the pleats and wear them on your shoulder !!
