A Day In Loungewear | The Club Emerald - Mumbai

Wednesday, 6 July 2016 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

These summer holidays were a perfect time for me to gussy up and go out, but hubster was too less inclined to spend time with family. It was a holiday vs Work Tug-O -War situation at home.
The work kept him busy all throughout , and he was a living example of Ass Jack of all trades,( work front ) engrossed in climbing some Mt. Kilimanjaro, Disconnected and not reachable. It was time to break a bottle of some old wine, alone at home, when an idea struck me to follow him everywhere.
Co-incidentally both of ours work made us land in Mumbai at the same time. Now it was a golden opportunity to take a break from solo-parenting and just throw everything and perform my laid back couch potato edit.
Things became slow. Mumbai was rainy and sluggy, not that I am loving Delhi at the moment, but its that time of the year where the pattern of sweat don't know the city its trickling down from. Yes, Monsoons !!
Obviously we don't have a different wardrobe for monsoons, like we do for winters, but casuals and lounge-wear only seems like an obvious directional choice in this weather which on a side note, also lets me achieve the bonus of every conceivable form of daily activity and save me the Gusset between my legs too ( I said that on Instagram already )......
This Kurti and the linen pant set was the most dressed up I needed to be on a rainy day in Mumbai. You can see my hair is tied up already in a bun. Kurta's can prove to be a Mecca for lounge-wear and also maximise your chill time and that's what precisely I was doing at newly launched Sports Club -Emerald in Chembur, Mumbai. I think there is room for style and taste in every part of women's life. But its only when a fancy place like Club Emerald which is full of luxury notes provides a vantage point for me to swaddle myself up with a cup of coffee in the quietness of the library and loose myself to a book.  After hours of curling up on that library sofa couch, I got in a mood to hit the playground , play some squash and it was exactly when I found out that this Fab India outfit proved every bit in the righteousness to obscure my secondary sex characteristic, unencumbered and non fussy.

BIBA Spring Summer 16 Collection- Kurta And Indian Ethnic Fusion wear for women

Sunday, 28 February 2016 / , , , , , , ,

What do you look for in an Indian wear while shopping ? Prints, lengths, styles, material silhouettes, fabric and the list goes on. Besides all these pointers, would you like to know  what I also keep in mind before laying my hands on that perfect Indian kurta or salwar kameez?
Before I put that piece of cloth in my shopping bag, I would like to know what story it would tell, and what expression it would let me exercise and how I can really make a statement with the piece ? Yes the last word- Statement.
How about if I tell you, that if there is an iota of a chance that our brain cells kind of think along the same line, then let  thefashionflite.com be the first one to break to you, that your search has just ended the minute I reveal along these lines the fresh new SS16 collection of one of the top Indian Wear brand BIBA. Of course we have heard the name before .Our footsteps have wandered a thousand times inside and outside of  plenty of Biba outlets spread across India, sometimes with bags full of shopping and sometimes when we were just window hailing the clothes.
This season you are just in time for Holi and Spring bloom, and has a lot to answer everyone's sartorial fetish in a language of colours Revitalized, Refreshed and Ready to wallow in your interest .

Inspired By Pastels

Wednesday, 29 April 2015 / , , , , , , , , , , ,

I love wearing Pastels. Its soft, and girly and playful.Nothing like rocking a sugar factory, especially when sweaty days could soothe off with a radiant hue and perky smile, and dressing up in  pastels beats me up into channeling my inner Easter Bunny.
Enough said. This is another outfit we shot before entering the venue for the fashion week. The trail Length Kurti came with pants, and I think I have formed a habit of leaving some and picking some , and then weaving into things I wear. Maybe someday you may see me wearing different feet(a.k.a shoes) The Kurta packed in a lot of sophistication, so I added these downtown Nike sneakers to go along, and who doesn't want to kick things up a notch when fashion week rolls up?
This jacket is another piece from my collection, and has all the pastel powers in one piece, which means only one thing - You can't really go wrong with summer blazers , especially with all the cotton candy colors popped in one . So why don't u all just dig in the whole amount of fabric going around in the photos, while I work on some fodder for my next post ?

Jewelry Inspiration and Indian Ethnic Fusion Wear

Wednesday, 1 April 2015 / , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Offbeat fashion sensibilities whipped up with over abused resources is where my forte lies. Like today I am wearing this architectural print inspired W Kurta with a skirt which was bought parallel to my blogging journey. The blog stayed well, and so did this skirt and that too ,in a condition where I could boast of my upkeeping skills.
The Scarf is done up which meets up the accent of this Indian Wear, and in a modern drama, where it could switch places from my neck and land up on the head into a Scarf turban/Bun and apparently into a much better vision angle so that I could flaunt these cover-ups if they would want to seek some attention of its own.
Living in the new fashion genre where mixing prints has a very spontaneous take on fashion, and gets very tricky especially for those who wants to escape a judging glare, this is my generous dose on attempting the same. I stuck with the basic, just one color approach. So if you couldn't ever figure out  the correct balance, I would say the right technique would be just to not involve a lot of color drama or go for a Chaotic impression ( which sure does when many colors add upto many prints) rather just make this kind of tricky fashion in an appropriate mend with black n whites instead.
If you ask me, this fusion outfit could easily take you to your office desk, and a so much better way to transform the boring kurtas hanging in your closet and wear them in a fun way to work. ie with skirts.
Coming to the jewelry, as much as I love my Elite Jewelry to take me through events n glitz, I like to play around as much with mundane stuff in an non-mundane placement, Like wearing a roadside bought  earring and that too in one lobe.Of course the other side is enjoying the dark shadow of my swept up hair. And these gold with pseudo studded detailing pointed sunglasses, don't just dare and say that they don't count for jewelry. It took me half n hour to make up my mind on these.

Now tell me. Does this print mixing thing goes with a slew of fun or u have a thumbs pointing down on my take ?

Gyans our very own brick-n -mortar boutique stocking the trendiest Ethnic finery, is now online !! I still remember this quaint li'l designer studio which always caught my fantasy, for their beautiful selection of clothes and accessories . A bit more throwback, and Gyans, is a name synonym to my hay day shopping destination. Heck I still posses a pencil skirt, from them bought twelve years back, only in the hope of slipping into it once again. But that's a dream !!

Tuesday, 1 July 2014 / , , , , ,

Blogging has given me immense pleasure to develop new friendships and virtual bonds which words fail to describe. Thank you Abhilasha for coming to my rescue and for this guest post on my blog. As you all know, I am on a 2 weeks Vacation (currently in Singapore), and lotta things kept me away from pre scheduling my posts-Blame it on the weather or my lazyness.
Abhilasha is a true Inspiration to those seeking Indian style n culture. She is a perfect blend between Contemporary and modern women who doesn't fail to impress when thrown a challenge to look best. If I could describe her style in one word - I would call it Timeless ! Don't forget to check her wonderful blog and Indian essence which reflects in her personal style.
Over to her !
I have had the pleasure of getting to know Surbhi one post at a time over the past year and then recently we finally bonded over a phone conversation and one of the outcomes of that conversation is this. Yes, I am taking over The Fashion Flitewhile she backpacks, shops, spas and holidays in a whole new corner of this beautiful world.
I have always admired Surbhi’s fearless style and I am thrilled to be able to share her space and interact with all of you today. So thank you so much Surbhi for letting me be here.
A few months back, when the summer heat started to get the better of me, I vowed to not wear denims for the entire summer. It kept me very comfortable during the sweltering summer months and it gave me an excuse to try things I avoid. Since I choose the comfort of denims over treading unknown style territories, this summer challenge was perfect for me.
I wore a lot of skirts, dresses and even the scary pajama pants, but what I enjoyed the most was wearing kurtas as dresses and giving them a more edgy funky twist.
As I get my jeans dry-cleaned and prep myself to get back into them, I thought of playing with the kurta one more time before the monsoons hit bringing an end to my summer no jeans challenge.
The kurta is borrowed, the mojris are traditional Indian accessories, worn by Gujarati brides and the clutch is a modern twist to a traditional craft.
