Cold Shoulder

Tuesday, 12 July 2016 / , , , , ,

After freaking out a lot of readers over Instagram , with blue lips, dhoti pants with bootsface paint. Its time to Un-freak them all ( Insert a string of emojis here ) No wonder I live a very examined life when it comes to fashion experiments and fluidity in style.
I am a thriving fashion blogger and its such a pity to come across people who are not open minded about fashion, while they secretly dote over Ranveer Singh's imposing style, and his cult fashion experiments.
Hence it's time I go back to my last article - why is it only legit to accept a trend only after a celebrity endorses it ?
A closer Inspeck on these fashion conglomerates have led me to conclude, that these hysterical people who rule over Instagram with a storm of 200k plus followers, posted their first pic on Instagram over a few months back, in addition to a barrage of pictures in skirts and crop top and oh not to forget - statement necklace,  eighteen something , antithetical in an ironic conformity over zilch creativity, but would never fail to dictate what to wear in their sporadic comments.
My answer to them is that its a question of evolution and subjectivity. I may like caviar on toast (Sevruga) but you may not want to experiment beyond basic Chow. Maybe chow is also an exaggeration, as it is a Chinese word. I guess, plain Congee of our south Indian hamlet is more comparative. Well whatever your thrill may be with fashion, the fact is it doesn't sit well with me. Its a hot button conversation when it comes to anyone's personal style.
While a lot of these fashionistas maybe laddering over a suspicious Instagram growth, their style only shows a slippery slope notion-ed by Sarojini Nagar thrifts , in sloppy pairings, clicking to glory in the hilarious parody of lamentable trends.
A lot of these young women mistake good sense of styling with good dressing up. These are two different genres . Its very simple to understand.
While 99% of the people have a good sense of dressing up including the Kaalbelia dancers of Mewad or the Zulu dancers of Africa ,but only 1%  of  creative people are noticed on Red Carpet.. Why ?
Further many people know that cheese is best paired with wine, but pairing blue vein cheese with Red wine could be a disaster. On the other hand pair blue cheese with any Riesling, and you could be a winner !!
Style doesn't come overnight and neither does it come with extensive experimentation,it resides deep inside your Creative DNA which happens not with one brilliant flash but in a chain reaction of many tiny sparks while executing an idea( Style). Style is that "Aha" moment which though comes in a sudden shake of insight but has been simmering in various parts of our creative brain as a different mental process from our everyday thinking.
So when these young teens tell me that I should not experiment, I find it very comical , so comical that I am laughing faux menacingly.

Today I am all about being that chic woman, who loves to throw in her hair open with a simple statement making Chanel earrings, and louboutins keeping things classy. I have not experimented and that is why took me minutes to achieve this style ,very very ubiquitous in nature, pulled out from the archives kinda look. You would have seen this on Instagram last year, probably the only sane look I did in my sea of experiments. Besides I didn't have any pictures in off shoulder, and hence needed a cold shoulder title especially for this post  hahaha.
My advise  to all those young women (teens) is - Don't fake perfection . You were born to make mistakes. Evolve, be free, and go crazy to the Zeeeeeeeeeee.

Playsuit and Intutive Customization-| feat TALONS D'OR

Wednesday, 15 June 2016 / , , , , , ,

jumpsuits,rompers and playsuits for women
Gleaming with delight on a hot sweaty day, from a land of molten lava, and air as warm as that smoked sizzler, let me tell you, I had to put up with lot to shoot this look. Partly its not everyday that I wear Red, and partly, I had to show off my new shoes, which were customised to every tiny detail for me to Careen around the streets owning my style like the whole city is my runway.
Also its not everyday that you come across brands like TALONS D'OR, and when you do, you pay attention. The whole intent of this look was to ooze of  kitsch femininity, but the heat suddenly jolts you out of that catwalk stupor making you feel like a character from Xander Cage 2013 movie-Riddick ( trust me Delhi was sizzling at 46 degrees during May)

Thanks to the start-up boom, a lot of brands aim to make everything from your watch to your shoes perfectly personal and explore your own preferences in much detail, without leaving your house.
TALONS D'OR surpassed all the tests in delivering that great experience in how a shoe should tend to- Comfort with a tadka of style (tadka =seasoning ).
I picked beige as the insole colour. The weaved pattern was kept subtle and I chose the design from their look-book gallery. The red outer sole is very close to louboutin red, nicely finished too . The block heel ( 3 inches) is comfortable to walk in for an entire day of rendezvous, or in this case, location hopping for this shoot. However I only wish if they could give me 3.5 inch nicety on the heels too, but never mind.

I may be finicky about how a certain item fits in my closet. And then when brands tend to make the whole shopping experience special and meaningful, I  throw open the whole closet door for them. I could say this for TALONS D'OR too.

I try to bring y'all into my world of great shopping, styling tips, of course easily accessible fashion, rather you can call me your very own conductor in this intimate sartorial relationship which we all share through this medium of my blog.  I love telling my own story through pictures and a place where brands could also easily fit.
Safe to attest TALONS D'OR as your next test shop for your shoe shopping . Putting all the links below. Give them a glance.
Also a big shout-out to Sahil from Lensthing for these amazing pics. He is your man for some stunning candid photography.

OOTD: Flare Pants with a Twist

Tuesday, 7 June 2016 / , , , , , , , , , , ,

What's a meal without a Dessert ? In the same sense, what's an outfit without accessories ? This summer is a little less than fete filled . Black gets a little intimidating to wear. The dynamic trend of fashion industry seeks a lot of creativity in accessories. The garment accessory is one such trend which can be just bought off the racks. They add a great definition to any outfit and can be easily worn and appreciated. This knee accessory from the label -AnuPd ( a talented friend and an amazing designer who has a knack of reshaping fashion we see and wear ) created a lot of buzz ever since it appeared at fashion week. Fashion week is a place where Kitsch wins over Chic and eccentricity indicates experiments, and after dazzling everyone in person it's time to dazzle everyone on the web.

My mood has been gloomy over the past few weeks .Things are dark and my mind is less focused. The dramatic risks which I love endorsing over my creative side have been also subdued. Particularly after my last take on Violet lips.
I have started grappling with the situation and have been picking out on blacks lately rather than the obvious choices of summer sorbets. The hint of red, through this versatile knee accessory was the only way I could be a little playful and loose but also sophisticated and urban and project a personal aesthetic statement. With a distinctly gladiatorial feel, this accessory had already met with raves the first I wore it. Its the kind of an easy twist over something less mainstream, served in a different avatar, that just glams the whole look.
I had imagined myself wearing something like this over my thigh high black boots sometime back. I love constructing silhouettes on my own, and accessories like these give you the freedom to show your wardrobe in a much better light.

Inspired By Asus Zenfone #Zenlook | Mint on Mint

Sunday, 29 November 2015 / , , , , , , , ,

asus zenfone2, asus zenfone laser, asus selfie
I love deriving inspirations from various channels and then coming up with my own version of looks, check here and here . Today's outfit draws its inspiration from technology - Asus Zenfone to be precise .
Asus is running a campaign on its Facebook page, where all one has to do is, create a zenfone back case , design ,play around within the app and then submit while keeping the fingers crossed. You may just get lucky and win a Zenfone or better still, your design could be selected  and printed as a limited edition Zenfone 2 case !!
Kim Jones - Brand ambassador of  Asus global launched the Zenlook campaign .  travelled to Asia's most iconic locations and her moods pretty much, submerging in the flavour of  her travels snapped the most traditional locations with her Zenfone 2 accessory of the season.
Her,style, her looks  and her  mood reflects in the new Incredible Catwalk series as seen on the Asus India Facebook page.
If your  go-to answer to what to wear is always “jeans and a cute top,”  then my Zen look could spice things up for both day and night
I wanted the whole outfit to be a little stand alone , at the same time still  look polished, and prove mean business.
I incorporated  vivid colours like mint, or lets say mint on mint, with a slight dash of pink and of course Red,inspired by  Zenfone - Fusion Series -Rose Red

The maintained  common colour theme kept the look cohesive, and Red is always sexy right ? The look has a certain amount of elegance, at the same time, it could easily be a great switch for lightening up when I am off the clock. Put on my sharpest glasses , and finished up with pointy toe pumps, which if you want to interpret, are clearly an ode to serial candy crush players, coz I believe in always giving a boost to my accessories too sometimes !!

Inspired By Earthy Tones

boho chic, boho clothing , boho clothing in india

In a big city like Delhi, amid the noise, and action, where youngsters are known for having loud sartorial choices, going minimal sometimes turns people's head .
White is a timeless colour, and anything that is against it, looks even better. Hence instead of favouring a pure white on white look , (which was the sole purpose of me getting these co-ords ) I instead chose to panoply the cacophonous patterns ,earthy tones on the edge, and evoke a victorian feel. Victorian, coz the scarf and these beautiful semi-precious dazzling earrings
This white outfit was a big blank canvas , and I made it whatever I wanted it to be. The green printed boho clutch , stands out and screams earthy, albeit in a subtle way. I couldn't have thought of a better way to style the pretty tassels
I don't have a perfect lifestyle to keep the colours originally white after a while. Those beautifully laid out buffet tables of JW Marriot,(which after scrolling down below, u may just spot) later spinned the tales of how I spilled watermelon juice on the skirt which earlier was a mellow version of absence of colour , but not really !
I am not sure too, if I can ever work a total virginal white-washed look,  considering my vulnerability to spillage, and  like my other fashion -pace-setters do it in an eloquent manner,
As far as I remember, I had always found it safe to keep away from whites, but my little slippage to this optimistic trend gives me a sense of perfection.
Cheers to bridging the distance, and here's to more connoisseuring tennis club style in near future ;)

Boyfriend Denims And Hat | Street Style India

Sunday, 28 December 2014 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

I have a weakness for everything denim.  Yup that slouchy n worn in feeling of a perfect boyfriend jeans , we are all familiar with !! Come 2014, Enter Boyfriend denim jackets. This oversize n light layer, can be yours, and one does not need to hunt them down. Perhaps I would say that its the most easily integrated piece for androgynous fashion. Pieces like these can work with leggings, a bubble skirt, skinny jeans and even shorts. With an endless array of colors and patterns to choose from, finding the right layer for you shouldn't be too difficult.
Boyfriend Layers are my perfect Jam for winters. If anything ,the latest crop of those streetstylin celebrities have shown that if you can't combine textures , then better layer on !
I love to flaunt sports meet preppy styles, read harsh Balmain styles(swooning already on the latest teaser with them)  While winters give me a perfect hot-spot to bring on the my own personal visage on things that make up modern day androgynous women, the heel in my step, gives an effeminate edge, so that I could make it appealing to those who are not really up for it ! Go ahead give it a shot, even if it takes baby steps, and explore a new side in fashion :)
