Sporty Fashion - Romper and Snapback Hat

Wednesday 28 August 2013 / , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

I love giving my sportswear a spin most of the times, and keep on experimenting with as many looks as I can, by keeping them in the spotlight ! My love for everything and anything sporty is well documented on the blog too, hence this time around I decided to play with my sporty Romper ..Its funny to me how this trend takes it back to basically what a baby would wear (lol). But its true and it so happened that they did make a fashion entry back in 2012.
So what is this Romper thing we are talking ?
A romper is a one-piece short suit that has short sleeves (or sometimes no sleeves) and often has a built-in belt !! Lot of women n celebrities have been rocking them on the streets, which clearly tells us one thing for sure- That they are not for babies any-more ! Secondly I am  much for a game towards them while I know that most of you are nodding in a  Naah expression-  as they are truly convenient to wear in places where it gets windy or where its a bit inadequate to wear a dress. (remember those childhood bike ride days in dungarees ?  )
You wear them wrong and you might end up looking like a slob, or  Doughy, but if you get them right, The protocol says that you are definitely blending with the trend, and are about to make a fashion statement ! So how do you fit in this Romper mold ? Here's how :
Hair N Make-up:Too much fussing with your hair or makeup doesn't suit the ‘romper look’.So stick to loose hair with flowing waves, or a Pony !
Accessories-Don’t over-accessorize. Pair Rompers with simple necklaces, and let the outfit shine on its own. Don't go too matchy with the bag too. A basic tote would be all you need Small purses won't look right with this causal outfit. Even if you have nothing to put in it, a big handbag is the perfect way to complement your romper .( tip- u can stuff it with an empty cardboard shoe box  :) :)
Shoes:Rompers definitely aren't meant to be glamorized. They’re comfortable, and your shoes should reflect this. Subtly chosen shoes are your best bet and will always compliment a Romper look  (pick wedges, Strappy flat sandals, and canvas shoes instead of chunky heels)

So have you worn them before too ? Go On Be a- Sport :) and try one now..

How to Wear Peplum

Friday 23 August 2013 / , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Recently I am obsessed with running my hands through my hair all the time, which is clearly evident from the pictures you are about to see. Frizz ! Thanks to Delhi's weather !
Secondly I am also obsessed with my new  Ray Ban Sunnies, which were bought when I was anticipating a splurge few weeks back !
And I really don't know when my new Octopus arm candy will become my new obsession(which also u'll come to know in my future posts).
During one of ,my online browsing session, I came across this . It was in that moment, I got an inspiration to style my Peplum floral top which I picked from Bangkok , and decided to do a similar fashion twist by throwing it with my leather skirt. Ok I'll admit it-it was the last thing I wanted to put on before heading out in the hot, and since they say- Stay Cool while looking cool, I literally took these words on a slightly serious note there ! After much of the scoffing was done, It eventually turned out to be a good idea coz the loose floral  top provided the much needed air for me to breathe while I added those spikes n skulls to supply a totally fresh dress code. Well we can also say that it could be one of my Moto girl Inspired look !!  Ahem ! Over to u folks !!

Fashion Trends- Animal Head print Dress And a Facinator

Tuesday 20 August 2013 / , , , , , , , , , , ,

Every girl if not love dresses , and I am not an exception . I am always on a look out for  dresses, which offers comfort, and are a bit loose, and accentuates the best of your body. The moment I walked in the store, and saw this dress. somewhere  it made my heart skip a beat because the color palette was perfect, and those lil tiger heads reminded me of zoo and instantly all the risks were taken and suddenly I am talking a big trend which is bounding onto the fall scene ! The only thing to watch out for is getting the right size print to suit your body type and of course exercising a little trend independent fashion judgement topping it off with a bit confidence(and a playful attitude ,if u don't mind that either).

On another note I was sent this beautiful Fascinator by Shilpa from The Young Designers Collective.
The Young Designers Collective is an association of artists and designers based in New York City, who design for non-profit organizations to promote good.
YDC allows for a free exchange of ideas and talents, thereby fostering the growth of artists and art in commercial design. Their initiative is to bring appreciation back to the artist behind the designer, to quality or handmade products and to a more sustainable future.
The artist and the designer behind this lovely Fascinator is- Shilpa Iyengar who graduated from Parsons School of Design in 2012, and use fashion as a platform to bring her love of art into a functional form. Asos Oxblood Midi Dress

Tuesday 6 August 2013 / , , , , , , , , , , , ,

I saw this dress on Asos last year, and immediately wanted to dip my toes into the vintage waters, with this dress giving a whole 40's vibe to the length ! The moment I tried it on, the first words coming out of my daughter' mouth were- MOM are u going to school ? And there I stood with the most Pokerish sort of expression on my face, with my soul cursing me for yet again giving into an impulsive buy !  Since Midi length was the only thing that looked current(at least on the runaway) I decided to hide it in the darkest corner of my closet, waiting for the right Inspiration or mood - to say it appropriately, and bring it out !
The first time I wore it was here- and it looked pretty decent with the layers, and very formal too ! The look was really growing on me, and I was able to demystify the midi trend at least . I decided to redo the whole look and bring out this Orphan dress(instead of getting rid of it ) and break certain myths we have for this kind of length !
I have broken down the cheat codes for you all too !!
  • Tuck that top In (incase of a skirt): Its more flattering when eyes dig your waistline till the hemline ! I chose the dress in two-tone contrast color, to get the same effect !
  • Layering is a good idea- The midi length looks neat when layered. Just make sure the layer(cotton/denim jackets for hotter months) hits above the waistline or just an inch or two above the hemline(trench/long coats for fall), either of which, really  depends on what season you are in .
  • Length: Thin or petite woman look great in lengths which hit just half an inch above the knee. If you are tall n petite, you can pull the longer ones too. The same holds good for curvy or pear shape women also !
Have you tried this trend too ? How do you carry off your midi's ? Comment Comment !!
