Geetanjali Salon Delhi- My Hair Color Experience

Thursday, 18 December 2014 / , , , , , , ,

Hair coloring is the new -"Makeup for Hair " and it cannot be overlooked coz self confidence is factoring into self-image lately. Need a boost of confidence ? Or wanna change the way people perceive about you ? Then better be the color chameleon !!
Its been two months since I got "High- Art "Red highlights from Geetanjali Salon. I loved the whole experience and my priceless look post that, which fetches me lot of compliments(till date ). Not to forget, it was first time I experimented with different colors. And with the tiny maintenance , I was able to retain the color for this long too.
The people at Geetanjali's knows my love for being wacky, hence called me over last week for a session with the industry's most consulted color expert- Sumit Israni, for hair color assessment, and add on some more color to my hair and persona .

Best Places to Shop Trendy Clothes in Delhi

Friday, 22 November 2013 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

The way we shop now a days, has changed over a last few years !! Wanna Know what should be an ideal wardrobe like, well then read on !
A few days back, I got a readers mail, asking me, my shopping preferences- Bangkok vs street shopping vs brands etc..
I'll tell you the truth. Zara , Mango and all the high end brands have penetrated deep in India. The clothes are well tailored, extremely fitted  though I wouldn't call them value for money ! They are not exclusively for the affluent class, but within the reach of middle class too ! For some its a status symbol, and it seems like everyone else is itching to race and blow a wad of cash on looking like everyone else ! Well that's my problem. Why look alike, when you can look different ? I feel like I can see the same dress I bought some days ago about three times on the same week walking through my city.
One word- The only thing I have with these brands is that you can't be experimental ! You just can't forge yourself on it !! You don't own a dress, damn IT OWNS U !!!
I love high end shopping , but its just been over an year the excitement of sale and clearance has died down for me at least in India where Zara and Mango rules the fashion snobbery ! That's a reason I have been hitting stand alone designers(meher chand market/hauz khas) Flea markets, Exhibitions and sarojini nagar lately !! I love picking up the rarest of the designs  and mixing it what I already have and evolve in my own way.
I  have blessed serendipity in picking up this scooter print jacket recently from Sarojini !! Its structured, fits well and is perfect for light layering! I was so excited about my find that I picked up three different prints Can't wait to show you all !!! What's your take on fashion now days ? Thrift ? Brands ? recession ? Future ?

I hope I could do more justice to this print, but the sun was too strong :(

It's An Overall Thing

Monday, 9 September 2013 / , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Starting today's post on a lil THANK U Note !! Just to let you all know that your  words are appreciated and motivate me to push ahead despite the fact that I am not perfect and make humiliating mistakes the most of time ! A big shout out to those who take the time to contact me and say nice things- I owe to u !! It keeps me grounded to what I believe I must do, and it helps me improve ! Though I feel your love cannot be reciprocated with just a thank u reply/mail,  and wish I could say more, but to tell you the truth, I save each n every love mail of urs (u know for those low moments in life ).
For those of you who seek to know about my weight loss journey- I have mentioned a bit here( u know I am available in case u need more info ).And we will also talk about it in a future dedicated post.
For those who wished a tutorial on my hairdo in my previous post, I'll try n get it done as soon as I can(hope there is no deadline on this one, and if there is then good lord- tell me how much time I have)
And those who want to know what's my routine to keep my hair healthy here's for all of u :
1. I am naturally blessed with thick hair(mom's genes), though they are frizzy at times.
2. I have started growing them long just 2 years back and its also been about the same time that ,I haven't colored them too (can't believe) !
3.I oil my hair Once a week or in 10 days (must do)
4. I switch between shampoos and conditioners, but recently I am happy using Toni N Guy and Forest essential products, they take care of my frizz and suit my hair the best (hence u know)
5. I alternate between Moroccon oil and a Loreal serum after every wash. Both work well for me.
6.I limit blow drying/heat tools only for special occasions, and prefer a jet of cold air over Hot any other day.
So that's about it ! I thought of including my hair ritual in a separate post besides sharing it with u'all personally.
Another thing I wanted to document on my blog, is wearing an Overall ! On a second thought , I have been wearing them too often(often before they were embraced as one of the street style staple, god-damn -I had approved them before they were officially a run of the mill  YAY(these ones are more than an year old) !!
And for all those who think that a denim overall might not be ur thing then I am glad I could introduce u to something different to look about in this trend while still being at the fashion forefront ..

Be Sun Smart- Styling A Sun Dress And Sun Hat

Thursday, 6 June 2013 / , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Like any other girl, I too hate having sun on my skin. The best thing  to avoid the summer sun is to stay indoors. But then I have to run errands, shuttle my kid to n fro from one class to another. So how can I give a sun hat a miss ? If you are a Delhi girl, you would understand how people can give you sudden anxiety if you dare to wear a big hat out on the roads. But then who cares?
I would rather look eccentric than get a patchwork quilt type  face tan. I own a few hats which I bought as experiments , some from art fairs too. Until last year I couldn't bring myself to wear one ,or would wear them for few minutes, feel silly and take them off ! But things changed, and I started blogging fashion so it was essential that I should eventually  crawl out of that slump and get a slight grasp on the fashion world too, hence, the hat trend couldn't be missed and I had a thought creep , Let's do an outfit post , keeping in mind the quintessential summer basics- A sundress and a Sun hat !! Have a look  !!

Last time I played around a bit with my hat on the beach on my trip to Goa ! Plus My sartorially-intelligent husband thinks it looks good on me and it goes with all of my casual summer outfits, hence all the inhibitions of wearing one goes to the bin .And Yes ! Next time you spot a girl in Delhi hiding her face under a big hat, u'll know whom to give a shout at ?

Hair and Make up lessons At Pearl Academy

Tuesday, 7 May 2013 / , , , , , , ,

I Have a love/hate relationship with make-up and hair styling !! Some-days I get it right in my first attempt, while sometimes I totally turn everything into a disaster !! Its just human to have make-up malfunctions,But one thing which I have learnt from my experience is that they are totally avoidable. Its just a matter of time -management,and a little technique that can help avoid a makeup/styling faux pas.
So when I was recently Invited by Pearl Academy, Delhi to attend their  interactive workshop on ‘Special occasion make-up and hair styling’ where the Specialist would demonstrate techniques on HOW TO GET THAT LOOK(which we always admire on those magazine spreads), I decided to hit it up with delight !!  The session was conducted by renowned make-up artists Ashima Kapur and Khampui Thaimei and was open to anyone (pre-registration was required)..Although it was a 2 day session , I could only attend the hair styling workshop on second day..I am totally regretting missing the make-up part, especially after looking at these girls and how perfectly applied their makeup is !!!
Have a look at it :
She looks pretty in shimmery eyes

A very glowing and flawless Nude make-up with bold eyes on one of a student

Ashima Kapoor-On how to use face highlighter
It couldn't get slick than this , Isn't it ??

This is not as tough as it looks(suitable for long hair )
Khampui Thaimei demonstrated an easy way to do a french bun. It looks like this !!!
