Its a WRAP

Monday, 18 July 2016 / , , , , , , , , , , ,

Its glad to see Delhi emerging as a city of high fashion, and I love the little reshuffling in creative ideas, and how the Mango people on the streets are consciously reckoning to the knock on impact of Bollywood, or runway for that matter and becoming aware of their style preferences. Fashion statement has become a vehicle of self affirmation and this is good.
Just today I met an old neighbour, who was happy to engage me in her thrift street findings, gushing over her new Indigo Kurta which she got for 700 bucks . Don't you know its the recent rage ? Her tone took a surprising turn in minutes when I shook my head casually. Considering she is talking to the best in industry, at least of all the people she knew, she was a little taken aback, when I told her that I really do not like Indigo.
Nevertheless, she was prompt to slip in a granny advise, as I left, but promising her to check out more of this little affair she had with Indigo trend. Trust me I was as clueless as can be in the end of the conversation as in the beginning but her canny knack of understanding trend narratives, created a mood for me , and the next thing I caught myself doing was checking out a few websites myself.
Which strikes me - Isn't it what we influencers do too ? or maybe better. I am reminded of a story where three thugs wanted to rob a man walking through the jungle with a thoroughbred horse and very meticulously, turn by turn, they would bump into him. " Ah what a pity. Such a wise man like you walking with a diseased donkey." was the statement drilled into his mind each time one of them bumped into him (the role of the modern day influencers:) .
Finally the man was convinced that he was really walking with a useless donkey and decided to part with his horse for a pittance to the last thug. This same drill, albeit camouflaged is put to use to create fashion trends these days and we bloggers are used as minions to spread the electronic word. Hence it is our social and moral responsibility as well to not portray a horse as a donkey or vise-versa. You get the point right ?
This demonstration of  Palpable herd instinct reminds me of my earlier days in college when the next new thing worn by our college senior made us run like lemmings to find out from where it was bought from. It was all about creating a statement of worth of being noted. It still is the case. Good for brands, but not maybe that good for fashion bloggers, especially the ones like me who love curating their own mini trends And today's post is yet my another attempt at it.
Today I am dressed up like a mid century rebel in bold lips and face art, putting the value back in the Bindi, with a little multi-culturalism approach, evolved in my own way. Let me know what you think?

Flower Hair Updo with Sheer Cape Blouse and Wrap Skirt

Friday, 10 April 2015 / , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

floral cape
Fashion week is over, and its time to share some of my best dressed moments on the blog. It was that time of the month when we got our finger on the fashion pulse. The week struck me completely into redoing fashion differently, and that's when I started playing with my closet, and hair to be more precise. Since I am blessed with a circular face cut and head in retrospect, anything which sits around that part of my asset , looks pretty . A lot of people snapped me on the venue and they made sure that they capped the flower right. I told them it was inspired by the nature, and hence the floral cape /blouse (which btw is from my own label) and this match is kinda seemingly putting everything in place for me.
I decided to play with mono colors ,hence wore this stitched wrap skirt , from House of SBJ which comes with an equally pretty  blouse. But switching things up , made the two separates a total charm and a much better put together look.
Have a look. Also don't forget to pause and give a moment to these shoes. I know they deserve their own admiration space.

Fashion And Beach Wear | Thailand Phuket Travel Post

Monday, 1 September 2014 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Both the pieces I am wearing here can be officially termed as Vintage. Fashion and trends have become so dynamic, that the next thing vintage in anyone's closet could be just a month old. Before and Unlike today, We had practically four seasons and a few designers and we loved the way fashion n designs evolved each year enchanting us . Times changed and we are witnessing practically 50 seasons and really diving into trends almost on a fortnightly basis. There is lot of innovation waiting to happen, and the next minute you know, that pretty " Brand new "neon dress was left hanging coz the future of fashion was bound to follow the lines which replaced the trend. I call it creative destruction ! A question : Why can't all fashion shows be an extension of what we already have ? Something a customer could use to build or expand the wardrobe ? Something which serves just an addition to our preserved staples and  where old could still be called Vintage?  Think about it !

The Girl By The POOL | PHUKET

Monday, 11 August 2014 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

We were in Phuket last year too. Same resort, Same beach, and co-incidentally Same dates . On a second thought nothing was incidental as it seems, since we fell in love with the whole place, so much that we couldn't get enough of Phuket at one time. We had an amazing time last year,so decided why not go every year if it turns out to be a blast every time ? You know the places you want to return and pick up things to-do which you couldn't complete before... something like that.
Its a very MEAN GIRL vs. SHE IS TOO COOL TO CARE ABOUT STRICT POOL DRESS CODE look, where I can still lounge around a pool in heels and get away with it. Wanted A very laid back vibe which reinterprets luxe glamour and then found a spot to read and even got some Queer attention BTW..
This wrap skirt was a flea find from Phuket  last year, and I went overly board to pair it even cropper version of the top - Than last Time .... I know I may sound going on a loop, but I feel that I am still stuck in my memories of 2013 mode.
As I write this post, I have chopped my hair to almost half of what you see now, and even Got some highlights. Watch this space to know my hair-makeover story !

Fashion Crop Top for Women

Saturday, 26 April 2014 / , , , , , , , , , , ,

Besides having a bent for all things fashionable, and all that entails being in fashion,It seriously took me a longer time than usual to embrace the crop tops trend....*shudders*..
I practically got on board with a few crop tops (and thank god i did) when I shopped for them in Bangkok. From boyfriend and casual crops to floaty fabrics and girly prints, there seems to be a crop for everyone, but how exactly do you wear this toughie of trends?
Did you know that our midriff is the most slimmest area of our body ? While That being said don't you think that all this while when the low navel pants ruled the fashion scenario, there had always been an appearance of extra weight in our mid section for less sartorial muffin top new mommies, who always struggled to get abs like Jessica alba ? Wearing a crop top was never even thought off , forget a crop top, I always wore a midriff sari back then !
After much hard work on the abs after my baby, and the recent back with a here to stay crop top trend,I am looking forward to wear them more with high-waist shorts or a fun skirt like this, that works to show off a tiny part of the midriff where I not only sport one of this season’s hottest trends, but be doing so with a modest hint of seductive sophistication ?
Remeber- lil bit of flesh is more alluring than putting a lot for show, its always better to leave the rest to imagination !!!

Best Ways to Flaunt The Midriff- Cropped tee Fashion

Thursday, 18 July 2013 / , , , , , , , , , , ,

Every Season there is a new trend that pops up which everyone wanna bring home ! How great it would look on us , is a tad difficult to judge, unless we try it out at different levels at the comfort of our homes ! Don't know about y'all , but happen with me a lot of times ! One such trend better left at the racks(for me ) is Cropped tee trend ! This time around in Bangkok too, all that my eyes could witness were funky cropped tops in different styles/prints and textures(some of them even had stereotype one-liners too) ! Hence I decided to Satiate my High-street Infatuation , and disturb my reader's Peace wagon a bit !  You can tell me more about it at the end of this post, in the comments section :)
And I would Thank god, in all my wilderness, for doing that... and tell you what, I am not even slightest bit mad about showing some skin !
I decided to pair it with my high waist  wrap skirt- another trend being picked up by our Fashionistas bloggers , after they did a comeback on the runways, and being embraced by our top designers and ticking off the mood board for all of us too drool later !
If you are determined to indulge in this trend too, but  not too keen to Bust-A Sag , then I would recommend you pair your cropped whatever's with a High-waist shorts/pants/skirts, and bring out the retro 90's feel to the whole look ! Got a clue ? No ? Hmm,then Check out the pics below ...
