The Girl In Turban

Thursday, 18 June 2015 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

style bloggers
There had been some trends which I was contemplating to try, And this turban trend was one which I wasn't even sure of.
I didn't even know if it was a thing. I wanted to wear it with some sparkling diamonds or bold lips. But chose my glittery blazer instead. According to me, the turban adds a lot of drama to this basic white tee and pants look .
The best part is that I didn't even want to buy a turban.  Hubby bought it for me, thinking it would be a nice alternative for a wrap during my winter swimming sessions. Clearly his choices are more practical than sartorial, lol. But thanks to him, I had an accessory that could be sported in any way I wanted.
So evidently I rocked up wearing one, on my way to a Glitz party, and the theme was Diamonds.I simply had to wear this blazer, and later before we reached the venue, I even attached my Jeweled Emerald earring onto the turban . Trust me I had enough people staring at me for the shoot. People even stopped their vehicles and paused to look until I opened the floodgates of my verbal slam.
Whether it’s a traditional head wrap style or a headband, or a full turban, it’s the season newest flavor and a show stopping way to top anyone’s look., and am so so glad that I checked this trend  off too.
P.S- My turban look was featured on Society.Co which is an online lifestyle magazine headed By Nisha Balwani. They curate content for the young South Asian generation, on a lot of topics which I am sure you would love to read.Follow them, show them some love coz its simply fascinating to read traditions with a modern touch and an enchanting way to learn trends and ideas.

Fashion Forecast : Fringe Trend

Friday, 5 September 2014 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Fringes are back in Vogue. On shoes, On Belt, on Bags, On Accessories, On clothes, peeps you just gotta look around on Pinterest ! It has transformed from an all Bohemian or western or a Pop star interpretation and can be Juxtaposed with Sensual Silhouettes  now! Who knows, it might get just as big as the crop top trend, and  ladies before you know it, this bitch called fashion just throw us back to an era we just may dread -THE 80's .  Fashion  Trends are a bit late when we talk about India. Its a snail approach. And I just don't say that for the heck of it , I have proof. I saw Fringe working its way through , two years back flooded in abundance in Bangkok malls. Though It has yet to hit the racks of the most prominently shopped brands in India . The collection is not that immense I say.
Come close and I'll talk about the most run of the mill style -crop tops scenario in India ! Like everywhere, even my neighborhood street shops have them ! From have nots they are the new Try Ons ! I can't really say, but sense that we would be pretty on top of this Fringe thingy too and you would be crushing on them hard and before we know it we gals would be fringing our closets to glory  and saying--  Aloha !!

The Girl By The POOL | PHUKET

Monday, 11 August 2014 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

We were in Phuket last year too. Same resort, Same beach, and co-incidentally Same dates . On a second thought nothing was incidental as it seems, since we fell in love with the whole place, so much that we couldn't get enough of Phuket at one time. We had an amazing time last year,so decided why not go every year if it turns out to be a blast every time ? You know the places you want to return and pick up things to-do which you couldn't complete before... something like that.
Its a very MEAN GIRL vs. SHE IS TOO COOL TO CARE ABOUT STRICT POOL DRESS CODE look, where I can still lounge around a pool in heels and get away with it. Wanted A very laid back vibe which reinterprets luxe glamour and then found a spot to read and even got some Queer attention BTW..
This wrap skirt was a flea find from Phuket  last year, and I went overly board to pair it even cropper version of the top - Than last Time .... I know I may sound going on a loop, but I feel that I am still stuck in my memories of 2013 mode.
As I write this post, I have chopped my hair to almost half of what you see now, and even Got some highlights. Watch this space to know my hair-makeover story !

Fashion- Dressy Blouse and Ripped Denims| Travel Post | Singapore Clark Quay

Wednesday, 9 July 2014 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Its good to be back, well, but literally ! For those of you who didn't know, I was on a backpacker kinda vacation, with  no pre-agenda and hotel bookings , primarily just the visa and air tickets ! It was a first time ever that we took a risk, skipping the research, and reviews, with a plenty of unscheduled free time ! Trying to squeeze in too many things -to-do lists, gets us no time to chill,it becomes a chore. But this time it was different. We did a lot-Snorkeling, canoeing,Buddhist temple visits, Hand shaking with the tigers(tiger Kingdom-Phuket), Bum beaching, almost drowning ourselves in the sunsets- all without the gnawing sense of missing something really Important. Made new discoveries each day, and found out that Ignorance might indeed be a bliss :)
Over the years I have found that my best vacations have always been the ones, where I am able to truly connect with the places I have visited and soak in the local culture. I visited three places and changed almost six flights over a period of two weeks ! Overly Ambitious?
These pics are from Singapore Robinson Quay ! It was my second port of landing . We decided to stay over at a loft style  hotel, Studio M (millenium group). Had heard a lot about these style of hotels, but just after one night and paying USD180 per night, we felt it was pretty exorbitant to pay that price for a duplex room concept. The very next day we moved over to Novotel, at Clark quay, which had an undulating view of one the best location of Singapore ! Check out my small Insta Video here .
If you are a nightlife person then I suggest that you stay over at Clark quay which has the highest concentration of bars and unadulterated view of riverside restaurants offering global cuisines and hip cafes and entertaining people.  This place has a vibrant young crowd of locals and tourists who are there to drink , eat and make merry but with elan !
For my outfit, I kept it, pretty much cool, and hassle free, less accessories, tied up here, and shorts with a formal blouse with neon trim edge. I had to meet my work associates for dinner, hence it worked well for an informal meet.

Fashion Trends | Color Block Dress

Monday, 21 April 2014 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

I haven't experimented with stereotypical  color-combination(subtly done )  coz in my head they would warrant some humiliation and allow friends to hiss fun and start giving names to the color combos; Despite the fact that color-blocking is one trend which is easy to assimilate and we can re-use the same wardrobe too(which is completely my forte). Right now its the season to block out some inhibitions and master the act of concealing some areas while highlighting our best and the end result can be fabulously flattering !
I worked mixing two colors from the same family-fluro green + emerald coz I kinda already love greens and it was a good idea to build the look keeping the favorites in mind . Moreover to whittle down the rebel flavor , I toned it more with my neutral pumps and replenished it with aviators and let the each color stand out by whispering rather than shouting for a much deserved second glance !

Fashion Week Outfit | Checkered JUMPSUIT

Sunday, 6 April 2014 / , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

After the most prominent fashion event of Delhi, WIFW,and apparently typical days of running, and rushing after the shows and feeling super dry and drained,Our Outfits should be more geared towards functionality and comfort. I would never mind to be dressed in comfy homiest outfit, for an activity where I am involved to walk in a big way, if it had not been the fear of getting spotted by the Fashion Police and their own way and interpretation of wardrobe scrutiny . And with the street styles and all that paparazzo ; fashion weeks becomes the most influential watch shows of the world , letting you in on "What Caught our eye " Tag, hence by all means our fashion week outfits should be a bit more glamorous than what one would usually wear .
This Wide-legged airy and roomy Jumpsuit was my sartorial shorthand of making an effort and being easy at the same time .The back zipper and neckline of this one piece is even more flattering, but had to be hidden under this jacket as I didn't have my arms waxed that day. Fashion weeks are not an event , its an experience, and these statement heels(though just 2inches),on which I rely by for any other day of equal amount of running got the best of me and left me all out of sorts especially when I was one of those social media mavens. But then all's well as long you have someone to tuck you back home ! right ?

Maxi Dress| Fashion - Beach Wear

Monday, 17 March 2014 / , , , , , , , , , ,

Dull mundane days getting a hoot and cheer of life, well that's neon for me -a perfect anecdote to catch a lil attention. While spring may be the time to turn over a new leaf in fashion and the next moment  we have the runways all flowing down with pastels-  the new ruler of the dynasty ! But what about neons ? Are we over them so soon or they will be a mainstay when it comes to adding the right amount of pizzazz to an outfit ? For me Neon in the most eclectic of shades are sure to add the extra perk in your step, Well they might be officially over for some, but not for me as yet coz  that was the only way I could get you all to notice my holiday tan !

Lavie Accessories New Collection for A/W-2014

Wednesday, 11 December 2013 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Last Weekend  I attended Lavie's Bloggers Meet and greet at Select City walk , Saket. The whole idea was to introduce us to the new range of bags and footwear collection and it was glad to see the brand incorporating the latest trends. I always associated Lavie with typical carry to work style bags, and it was interesting to see them bring neon colors to their collection . The bags are sturdy and if you have tendency to stuff your bags with almost anything n everything, then they have a few structured ones as well with roomy compartments .Though in my opinion they should consider adding some glowing/party clutches coz every women needs a sequined something for a glamorous night out in town. But guess its gonna be a while before they incorporate these under their umbrella. As for the footwear collection, nothing fancy, but if you are looking for a robust shoe, that should last you good,  Lavie would not fail you.

I bought these Lavie Nude pumps which I switched over with my boots , and then walked the whole mall for an Hour ! I think I can trust them for a lil more walking whenever next !!

Best Places to Shop Trendy Clothes in Delhi

Friday, 22 November 2013 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

The way we shop now a days, has changed over a last few years !! Wanna Know what should be an ideal wardrobe like, well then read on !
A few days back, I got a readers mail, asking me, my shopping preferences- Bangkok vs street shopping vs brands etc..
I'll tell you the truth. Zara , Mango and all the high end brands have penetrated deep in India. The clothes are well tailored, extremely fitted  though I wouldn't call them value for money ! They are not exclusively for the affluent class, but within the reach of middle class too ! For some its a status symbol, and it seems like everyone else is itching to race and blow a wad of cash on looking like everyone else ! Well that's my problem. Why look alike, when you can look different ? I feel like I can see the same dress I bought some days ago about three times on the same week walking through my city.
One word- The only thing I have with these brands is that you can't be experimental ! You just can't forge yourself on it !! You don't own a dress, damn IT OWNS U !!!
I love high end shopping , but its just been over an year the excitement of sale and clearance has died down for me at least in India where Zara and Mango rules the fashion snobbery ! That's a reason I have been hitting stand alone designers(meher chand market/hauz khas) Flea markets, Exhibitions and sarojini nagar lately !! I love picking up the rarest of the designs  and mixing it what I already have and evolve in my own way.
I  have blessed serendipity in picking up this scooter print jacket recently from Sarojini !! Its structured, fits well and is perfect for light layering! I was so excited about my find that I picked up three different prints Can't wait to show you all !!! What's your take on fashion now days ? Thrift ? Brands ? recession ? Future ?

I hope I could do more justice to this print, but the sun was too strong :(
