The Kaftan Story

Friday, 3 July 2015 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

kaftan dress , bajukaftan, caftan
Somethings in fashion are still invoked as a symbol of exoticism. Believe you me, when an outfit is exotic, and wearer friendly, you don't think twice, rather blink twice, but just buy it in the moment.
A garment that tastes like summer, regal in its own way, and is sure to give u a flavour of wanderlust is Kaftan. I mean just look at it, will u? I can now officially float. Its casual and loose ,yet can be easily be dressed up for more glam.
I wonder why styles like these aren't pushed in the maternity section ? Why the celebrity Mom cover girl on a Parenting magazine always have to wear dungarees or maxis? Although this post is not about preaching motherhood, but I have stalked enough maternity magazines in my life, to reach to a conclusion, where nothing could be as comfy as this.
I loved spilling out of bounds for once  and accessorize this look, to keep the free-spirited nature of the  garment in flow. It helped me paint a picture of poise . The plus was that we seized these pics at dawn. Delhi is always synonymous with India Gate, and we all know that it is an attraction in its own. I had been waiting patiently for months to capture the beauty of the place at sunrise. Let me know if u like the pictures ?

Fashion- Dressy Blouse and Ripped Denims| Travel Post | Singapore Clark Quay

Wednesday, 9 July 2014 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Its good to be back, well, but literally ! For those of you who didn't know, I was on a backpacker kinda vacation, with  no pre-agenda and hotel bookings , primarily just the visa and air tickets ! It was a first time ever that we took a risk, skipping the research, and reviews, with a plenty of unscheduled free time ! Trying to squeeze in too many things -to-do lists, gets us no time to chill,it becomes a chore. But this time it was different. We did a lot-Snorkeling, canoeing,Buddhist temple visits, Hand shaking with the tigers(tiger Kingdom-Phuket), Bum beaching, almost drowning ourselves in the sunsets- all without the gnawing sense of missing something really Important. Made new discoveries each day, and found out that Ignorance might indeed be a bliss :)
Over the years I have found that my best vacations have always been the ones, where I am able to truly connect with the places I have visited and soak in the local culture. I visited three places and changed almost six flights over a period of two weeks ! Overly Ambitious?
These pics are from Singapore Robinson Quay ! It was my second port of landing . We decided to stay over at a loft style  hotel, Studio M (millenium group). Had heard a lot about these style of hotels, but just after one night and paying USD180 per night, we felt it was pretty exorbitant to pay that price for a duplex room concept. The very next day we moved over to Novotel, at Clark quay, which had an undulating view of one the best location of Singapore ! Check out my small Insta Video here .
If you are a nightlife person then I suggest that you stay over at Clark quay which has the highest concentration of bars and unadulterated view of riverside restaurants offering global cuisines and hip cafes and entertaining people.  This place has a vibrant young crowd of locals and tourists who are there to drink , eat and make merry but with elan !
For my outfit, I kept it, pretty much cool, and hassle free, less accessories, tied up here, and shorts with a formal blouse with neon trim edge. I had to meet my work associates for dinner, hence it worked well for an informal meet.

Concert look| What To Wear To a Concert

Friday, 6 December 2013 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

If one would go today to a concert, and the singer would yell “Put your hands up high” you will see just the hands with phones with cameras, which record the concert. The hands are up even if the singer is not asking to raise them up. Everyone today is so obsessed with recording or taking pictures of every event. People want to externalize everything. Guess we forget at times that Photography is just a tool to make a product well know to the world !!
Talking about Photography there is a  famous saying which we would have heard a gazillion times “Use a picture. It’s worth a thousand words” and as a matter of fact its a simple truth about photographs. Sometimes a paper with an image on is more convincing than a story with reasons and arguments.
Big brands like Michael Kors just goes ahead and hires the best New York commercial photographer, to do their marketing and create some really fashionable promos, which eventually are seen  about everywhere. That's it !! It starts and ends with a picture. The photographs speak for the products. The thousand words, a picture can say, are sometimes the perfect words for everyone. Because every single person in the end would pick up what they like to see. If there is something we enjoy, we will go back again to it, but if we loathe it, we will simply not look at it or ignore it completely. Pictures do not scream, they do not bother you. Pictures are not noisy. There are just two possibilities - ignore it or admire it. The impression they leave, depends totally on the person who looks at them.
Nh7 weekender pulled out the madness in Delhi last weekend. And we made most of the moment by taking a lot of pictures... I mean these !! By the time we reached the venue , the battery died, and the excitement couldn't be conveyed more :(  Do they also say- That There is a Next time ???
