A Day In Loungewear | The Club Emerald - Mumbai

Wednesday, 6 July 2016 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

These summer holidays were a perfect time for me to gussy up and go out, but hubster was too less inclined to spend time with family. It was a holiday vs Work Tug-O -War situation at home.
The work kept him busy all throughout , and he was a living example of Ass Jack of all trades,( work front ) engrossed in climbing some Mt. Kilimanjaro, Disconnected and not reachable. It was time to break a bottle of some old wine, alone at home, when an idea struck me to follow him everywhere.
Co-incidentally both of ours work made us land in Mumbai at the same time. Now it was a golden opportunity to take a break from solo-parenting and just throw everything and perform my laid back couch potato edit.
Things became slow. Mumbai was rainy and sluggy, not that I am loving Delhi at the moment, but its that time of the year where the pattern of sweat don't know the city its trickling down from. Yes, Monsoons !!
Obviously we don't have a different wardrobe for monsoons, like we do for winters, but casuals and lounge-wear only seems like an obvious directional choice in this weather which on a side note, also lets me achieve the bonus of every conceivable form of daily activity and save me the Gusset between my legs too ( I said that on Instagram already )......
This Kurti and the linen pant set was the most dressed up I needed to be on a rainy day in Mumbai. You can see my hair is tied up already in a bun. Kurta's can prove to be a Mecca for lounge-wear and also maximise your chill time and that's what precisely I was doing at newly launched Sports Club -Emerald in Chembur, Mumbai. I think there is room for style and taste in every part of women's life. But its only when a fancy place like Club Emerald which is full of luxury notes provides a vantage point for me to swaddle myself up with a cup of coffee in the quietness of the library and loose myself to a book.  After hours of curling up on that library sofa couch, I got in a mood to hit the playground , play some squash and it was exactly when I found out that this Fab India outfit proved every bit in the righteousness to obscure my secondary sex characteristic, unencumbered and non fussy.

The Contemporary Jump | Saree Draping Bollywood style

Thursday, 9 June 2016 / , , , , , , , , , ,

Its the bloggers who give brands the personality to clothes they make. A designer may just give some clothes to wear, but it's me who adds style to it, a luxury hardly available to any model we see on the ramp, in that coveting outfit. My creative universe is an extension of performance arts, and when I wear clothes , they aren't just clothes.
There is a growing trend in contemporary fashion, and every time I am surprised. The more I explore this side of the fashion, the more is left to be explored and practiced.
Every time I see a saree being sent down the runway, I see a voyeuristic appeal commingled with my own great desire to own that luxury and experience it in a way which has not gone to mainstream hands. I think it's so rad that this piece of culture has always stuck around and now we see these saree draping aesthetics reaching out to global wanderings to what me may call a recent phenomena where West meets East.
I always attempt to make a perfect replica of what I see on the ramp. With minor tweak of probably recontextualizing it with my own style references  and bring different experiments and new terrains to cooly accessibile sector of  Indian wear (relatively wallet friendly sourcing) which has almost runway credibility or runway stamp to it. The only difference is that being a fashion blogger my show is usually on the road,or street as we call it, in sweat or in sprain, with slightly less than photoshopped pictures and self inflicted blush on patches on my cheeks, and try to pretend that everything's going swimmingly until the pictures capture that trickling sweat.
Today in part portions of some sweaty pictures, bringing to the table more kick to the saree draping style , with the addendum of cool counterculture swagger attitude with a bagpack and creepers with saree. Seriously Creeper with sarees??

Cold Shoulder | Fashion Indian Street Style

Tuesday, 10 May 2016 / , , , , , , ,

This season I have learnt to be more forgiving. Forgiving than what I usually was. No I am not taking you into any heavy talk, rather pushing the boundaries and forgiving my shoulders from the halter shift into a melt down of cold shoulder trend which is just exactly the reverse of the crop tops where we showed you our navels. Brace up coz ---- Its the season of the shoulders.....
These barren bones are my new landscapes that I am thriving upon . The elaborately worked up skin needs a show of its own, and which humbly allows me to explode my bank............( actually I mean husband's but I  am being modest)  and bring home bagful of the outfits, keeping my fingers crossed , that the almighty should give me enough opportunities to wear them while the heat is on.
Its a look that begs for an exotix vacation. A strain of controlled exoticism that just wants to flow and evoke that modern yet conservative women in me. The sliced up and shredded hemlines of the denim blouse are anything but cerebral, lending narrow hints of sexual access and a candidly erotic antidote to the austerity of recent trends .
Be prepared to see some unexpected skin this season. I am already fetishizing shapely shoulders, and lifting more than I can in the gym.

Military Jacket | Faux Fur And Combat Boots

instagram indian bloggers

There is something about wide buttoned military jackets that gets me excited. I had one when I was 9 and my friends used to envy. They said it was too decorative ... haha... The minute I saw this March jacket on Stalk Buy Love, my grown up self  remembered how  my mom carefully piled away my cashmere sweaters and winter expenses into a big suitcase with lots of mothballs. For my favourite jacket, she always said, this is mothball proof, go hang it back in isolation. Even she knew back then that this kind of an all season urban uniform is trend driven, and I should probably flaunt it all year round.
I could say the same for this Jacket too. The sharp fierce colour is not only attractive, but a total impressionistic .
I have a very strong feeling that this could pass and make for a perfectly cool formal outerwear, if you have a funked up working environment, and you want to show that having diversity with your wardrobe is equally important. Its about time we show em folks, that a military jacket is a staple among the civilians too.
We shot this look in Jan last week.  It was a cold and gloomy day. As we proceed towards spring , I cannot think of wearing the fur collar right now . Its about time that I stuff half off my season's worth of clothes back into the blow tights into the attic . Time to rake away dead leaves and look for sprouted flowers. But this jacket is an year rounder. You are going to see me dragging this statement jacket and  change profile pictures after profile pictures, maybe hanging it like a prop from my arm in a few month's time from now.

Bags tend to be something we all covet and admire, but they can be hard to pick out! A bag can be one of the season's biggest fashion choices, because usually you will want to wear it with everything from your bulkiest coat to your sexiest Christmas party dress. Of course, bags just like every other accessory change with the seasons and there are whole new bag and purse looks to think about at this time of year as the seasonal fashion pieces change in stores. But what should you be looking for
for your fall 2015 go to bag?
Here are some of the street styles spotted at NYFW Spring Summer 2015 and the bags that I am eyeing just about.

Travel In Style with Clarks #MyShoeDiaries - 1

Tuesday, 26 May 2015 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

clarks christian louboutin shoes styles
Today I created the whole look around the shoes. Its summer holidays and that means travelling on cards, not only for me , but am sure for a lot of us. So just because our schedule includes planes, cars or trains , it doesn't mean that our wardrobe has to suffer, especially when all the while we have a selfie fever tapping on, and it's got to be always a winning one. That's correct. Everyone wants to look good and have good travel pictures .
So this holiday season Its all about travelling in style and when it comes to that, I think, laid back look, breezy outfits, lots of sunscreen, and comfort shoes for that  endless slip on and offs in the car and flight.
I was thinking to go super casual, but also wanted to keep my individual style intact. And since we were spending the weekend at  Heritage Select Manesar, I decided to blend in with the alcove style village interiors , and bring my gypsy style to play. The bindi, layered semi-precious Jewellery , deep kohl, helped me play the case of cool and casual. I really felt that these pretty Ennis weave Dusty pink shoes from clarks were the only thing that I needed to make my travel style pop. They even lent a good amount of style emmo to the Jewelry I wore which I sartorially layered skipping anything which was overly trendy and less than anything loud, helping me show a bit off my Indian roots with a side of cool.
Knowing that it was gonna be the hottest day on record, I wanted to keep the outfit airy, but at the same time injecting the flavour I wanted , and nothing could demonstrate that than a pair of hot shorts and an off sleeve blouse.
So this was my take on tripping out of town in style  and a way I could meld travelling hours without looking boring.
Bonus: This look could go straight from travel to dinner to drinks, or even sightseeing.
Someone rightly said- "Good shoes take you to good places " So behold as I take you through my next episode of #shoegasm in #myshoediaries with Clarks

Moods | Dressing Up for a Music Fest In Bangalore

Thursday, 16 April 2015 / , , , , , , , , , ,

stylish bags for women

We all know that Coachella weekend 2 is happening all around. For my fellow readers in US- yayy, but Indians long and wait all year round to get their high on music fests, which could satiate their hunger for fashion, dance, drama, and music. Delhi witnessed emerge last month, and since I couldn't get myself to attend that coz of pouring rains, I got my entry somehow to the Atif Aslam live concert(c/o my lovely friends  from music industry ) happening in Bangalore around the same time as Coachella . On one hand I have started sorting outfits and creating looks anticipating my visit and a small getaway to ooty is being dreamt of and this little air about travel has got  hubs excited in finding a few boutique hotels in Bangalore  and in fact  We are so looking forward to a getaway , and this tickets to the concert is filling me up with a vacation mojo.
On the other hand, this much talked about Coachella is giving a lot of inspiration to dress up to  every fashionista. Social medias are streaming life full of those .
I know I can't go for one, but who says we can't dress up for one. This is also my weekend look, which if things set up nicely and we manage to  get the hotel bookings in Bangalore of my choice, I might just copy this finery , the jewellery drama , and fly out for a weekend.
With this look, I played with antique accents, and this lace co-ords from Stalk buy love were conveying the whole drama. Its fun, its flirty and the whole combo, is a sunny ripping up of my style lookbook.  Although its a whole 90's revival stint, with two smashing separates,Its really interesting to see how the bloggers are taking this trend up a notch with their own re-incarnations. Today I tried something sporty chic again (all-right its not my first ) with Jewellery being the main focus.
I shed my sweet girl image and touched base with my inner eccentric and whacckky .There is another whole new level of fashion and music I am going to explore, and this kind of a getaway is a great excuse to dress up and on to traipsing back and forth.

Selfie Crop Top | Indi fashion

Monday, 9 March 2015 / , , , , , , , , , , ,

First things first - The winner from my #hairisfashion contest is Debiparna. Congratulations, and you would be contacted shortly .
Now coming to this post, Everyone loves a good lost and found story, but this is not what this post is about . Being several years from Dementia, I can suck upto it for blog content maybe in a few more years to come #kidding .
We are starting another season of fashion week, with the new collaboration of Amazon.in as India Fashion week Partners, and while I started putting that word around on Internet, there was this Wills Karma which asked for its due payback- a.k.a the pics which I had not put up ,and got lost during a casual mishap with my Mac. Now that I have got it back, I am pulling out the hold out hopes one by one of lil memories of hardwork, and passion, and the dressing up drama which my mechanical device had fondly kept it safe to bail me out of my montage collection just before the current season of fashion week. So Yippie to that !
A #Selfie crop tee paired with an Indian skirt is more of an Rad-venture look which I wanted to create. This wedding season , try experimenting with less matchy matchy pieces. The minute I walked in at Study By janak, my brain started  racking  into  picking pieces as individuals rather than sets, and there I laid my eyes on this beauty, and ditched everything that tagged along with this piece and proudly bought it home boasting my picky shopping skills .
I could have done with something more formal, but this look kinda hodgypodgy for less main-stream fashion expands all fashion sensibilities. Been there , done that and still love doing it until Dementia do us part :)

Purple Lips | Lipsticks Trends that You Must Try This Spring

Wednesday, 25 February 2015 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

After my sporadically done Blue lips fame, it was time to dive right into a color experiment and haphazardly open up to a whole rainbow and do a whacky post yet again ! I was determined to push my boundaries a bit further and come up with high impact lips. This Lilac is just the right shade for an Indian tone . Its a neutral without being one , it can be light and it can be dark, and you can play with the tone just as you feel like. Be vampy with double swipe or be feminine with a single one, just whatever rocks your boat.
Yes you would get some odd looks on the streets , but whatever , you know u are Rad, and there is nothing that could take that feeling from you .
There are so many ways I could just breeze through summers with these more subversive than tidy unabashed lips. Its just like the easiest thing to throw on after the summer heat kicks over. Case In Point : U don't know what you have got , until you tried it . But more than anything its about the trial and error, and a constant revolution between the posh n proper on one side and the punk and Provocateurs on the other, and then moving on to see what the Sartorial Janta likes and don't ? Lucky for me, you guys love my coming together of two poles , appreciate, leave generous love and all this gives me a creative license to thwack n shake the fashion world(thudd thuddd thudd lol)
Besides its not only these lips I lathered on. These bomber jackets are a trendy rendition to this pleasant Delhi weather. And for this sartorial climate that encourages most of us to wear whatever they want , I am loving every bit of it layering with whatever I could grab on and take my thangsss to the next level.
