The Contemporary Jump | Saree Draping Bollywood style

Thursday, 9 June 2016 / , , , , , , , , , ,

Its the bloggers who give brands the personality to clothes they make. A designer may just give some clothes to wear, but it's me who adds style to it, a luxury hardly available to any model we see on the ramp, in that coveting outfit. My creative universe is an extension of performance arts, and when I wear clothes , they aren't just clothes.
There is a growing trend in contemporary fashion, and every time I am surprised. The more I explore this side of the fashion, the more is left to be explored and practiced.
Every time I see a saree being sent down the runway, I see a voyeuristic appeal commingled with my own great desire to own that luxury and experience it in a way which has not gone to mainstream hands. I think it's so rad that this piece of culture has always stuck around and now we see these saree draping aesthetics reaching out to global wanderings to what me may call a recent phenomena where West meets East.
I always attempt to make a perfect replica of what I see on the ramp. With minor tweak of probably recontextualizing it with my own style references  and bring different experiments and new terrains to cooly accessibile sector of  Indian wear (relatively wallet friendly sourcing) which has almost runway credibility or runway stamp to it. The only difference is that being a fashion blogger my show is usually on the road,or street as we call it, in sweat or in sprain, with slightly less than photoshopped pictures and self inflicted blush on patches on my cheeks, and try to pretend that everything's going swimmingly until the pictures capture that trickling sweat.
Today in part portions of some sweaty pictures, bringing to the table more kick to the saree draping style , with the addendum of cool counterculture swagger attitude with a bagpack and creepers with saree. Seriously Creeper with sarees??

Minnie Mouse Inspired Hair And Outfit

Monday, 14 March 2016 / , , , , , , , , , ,

My Blogging pace has gone for a toss. I remember posting twice a week in the initial days of my virtual  journey. Somehow in my endeavours to present a story and a look with an idea which has not travelled to mainstream blogs, it takes a little more involvement than it does now than before.
In my pursuit for better presentation , Its now become a habit for me or a strategy of caution to work with niche brands, that could not only add value to my blog, but also add value to you all who come here for a weekly catch up with me.

I wore this look for one of the days at Amazon India Fashion week Spring Summer 16. The idea of the double bun was De-Novo , and the eccentricity from the hair had to be matched with the exaggerated shoulders of the tee.
I know you would say I am kidding, but I did my hair in under two minutes. Although this typically resembles a very Minnie Mousish vibe but I think it's kinda Re-imported . I wanted to advertise my talent ( sounds commercial ain't it ?) into something that alludes to my inner style /voice . And then there are debates on why bloggers should work for free, while here I am labouring my ass off . The creativity that is suspended in one blog post, from shooting, to scouting locations , to makeup, to every sweat that trickles down in this half a day process counts. Then there are behind the scenes job that no one ever considers . Countless hours in editing pictures, double that up when your wifi has a mind of its own, and then replying to each and every one of your comments. Phew, it takes time hence coming back on the note we started this post.
But do you know the catch ? I am pretty confident about and proud of what I do, and want my posts to send a positive message. Every style should tell a story, and every story should outmode other. And if half of you think what I am doing is right , then I am in seventh heaven :)

Grunge Out

Its no theory that when you look good you feel good !!!! Sounds silly but you'd be surprised how easy it is to pull off mundane when you know that power dressing is just a wink away.
I just threw this look in precisely 5 mins tops. The Missa More Slits revel in romance, and sometimes you can add easy chic n casual to it. I love the fact that how versatile they are.
Wanted to take this trend to a next new level, and to prove that unencumbered exists in fashion , marinated the soft florals with a wee bit of grunge soil.
Pushed the sofa a bit this time and  tried this part feminine and part Rock style, just to reflect a trend in everyday dressing up.
Now that I write this post, in my endeavour and only chance to communicate with you, I feel that am considerably more dressed up than in recent memory.
I have been known lately for my brutal presentation and taste in colours,(precisely choice of weird  lipsticks ) to which I  logically say, u don't know it unless u have tried it.  A trend which bestowed a certain cachet , is now going a bit mainstream and I feel that sooner I would see my favourite fashionistas and blogger buddies warming them to it. India takes dwarf steps when it comes to acceptance, but yeahh, we are just there when a giant leap in fashion would soon be a thing of the present.
This look is an attempt  to soften the blow of summer coming to an end. The darker colours say that all, don't ya think ? Lets chat in the comments ;)
