Gyans our very own brick-n -mortar boutique stocking the trendiest Ethnic finery, is now online !! I still remember this quaint li'l designer studio which always caught my fantasy, for their beautiful selection of clothes and accessories . A bit more throwback, and Gyans, is a name synonym to my hay day shopping destination. Heck I still posses a pencil skirt, from them bought twelve years back, only in the hope of slipping into it once again. But that's a dream !!

Autumn Layering with Indian Bandhani Print Maxi Dress

Hope You all had a great Halloween ? I just came back from a tiny escapade to Pench Tiger Reserve and it was one of the most  thrilling trips we had in such a long time.... More on that in future posts.
Its a known fact, that I have some admiration to mix Indian pieces with a bit of modernism. I don't know when this style sprung up, or what Inspired me at that moment. Safe to say, I like experimenting things , and the appreciation was the the only driving philosophy behind all this little brushstrokes styles, I have been trying out.
Sometimes , its the contrast of colors, that works the best, or maybe the prints, but their is something so substance fueled about Indian handicrafts that conjure the Inventive Imaginations into something that it takes an instant switch for me to turn up the level of fusion wear Incarnations on my blog.
For this outfit, I picked up the beautiful colored Bandhani Print Maxi dress from Bandhej, and tried on this embroidered jacket, and I was sold in a minute. The color complements so well, that I took a minute to warm up to the decision and brought them home. I can't wait to explore more hybrid patterns and fusion staples that I could bring forth with these prints, and display my freewheeling mix of Indian culture on a platter for Y'all !!

Diwali Outfit | Indian Festive Wear

Happy Diwali :)

I wanted this post up today morning, but something or the other kept on clinging.Wore this outfit for a Diwali party and some fun with friends, and wanted to keep it less on Bling and high on Zing, and the colors of this skirt and choli, scream the true vibrancy of this festival. I have never worn rainbow colors in such a beautiful form, and when I was shopping for my karvachauth outfit, somehow my eyes were fixated on this piece, which has a timeless beauty of its own. The best part- it would never be out of trend ! I had worn this blouse earlier during fashion week , with pants, and I can just right now think of so many more ways these pieces could make my wardrobe staples tune in with each other.
I am leaving for a tiny vacation in few days, so let me Keep it short as of now, and run to do my Diwali pooja, before its too late. Hope you don't eat too much sweets , and even if you do, don't forget to sweat it out, coz it won't be fair to not slip into these beautiful dresses again :)

Indian Festive wear- Karvachauth OOTD

Continuing my  state of allure from the last post, it would not be fair to associate the elitist and sheen an Indian wear could bring to one's personality .

Its that time of the year again, the nip, the whiff of festivities , weddings , and the dressing up fun has just only started. Each passing year, wedding wear and Indian wear era seems to be evolving and its just the beginning . We are bombarded with constant new ideas and everyone really wants to stand out on their special day  - Enter-Fashion Blogs. From Indian wear inspirations to local street styles to "What To Wear When " tag , we seem to show it all on the blog.
This year the Karvachauth fever gripped the city's biggest fashion event-WIFW ongoing at Pragati maidan. The organizers dedicated an area for the women observing the fast, and everything as per the rituals and norms were arranged . Even the designers ,enthusiastically, attended the rituals un- brokenly , and it seemed more fun to break the fast under the Fashion moonlight with an equal mix of limelight. The guys from the PR team  directed me to the karvachauth lounge, where we could all wait after the shows and have a Google hangout session and break our fasts in a more technologically driven manner.
This was my outfit from the day and I love the fact that the Sari is super light. Its the first time I am ever trying an orange and blue combo. The corset has beautiful Pearl detailing and the Pallu of the Sari meet up at the ends in the form of a triangle. This ready made piece from Study By Janak , was screaming "pick me up and wear it " and I had no second thoughts about it later. I am loving ready to wear Sari trends these days , and the store can spoil you for the choice. Their collection is clean and minimal and that's the way I like it, and would always return back every year to them to wear my festive blinghhh.

Fashion -Sarees and Indian Fusion and Ethnic wear By Triveni Sarees

Its very rare that I invest in a Saree, but when I do, I make sure that it would not end up as a behind a closet piece, but I should be able to bring more versatility and value to the whole 9 yards and wear it more often . Recently I was introduced to  Triveni Sarees. If you want to replicate any Indian Celebrity style ethnic look, chances are that not only you would be spoilt for choices , but also might get addicted surfing through and thorough and get hooked on ! They have  some beautiful Indian wear from sarees, to lehengas and kurtis and some pretty matching accessories to go with too. If you are looking for some Indian fusion pieces , then you may not search further, since there are a whole lot of designers and their grooves and even the best of runway styles ready to be served on the platter. The prices are pocket -friendly and all the sarees comes with an option of getting them pre-stitched and add-ons likes underskirts, Blouse stitching, finishing etc.

I love the contrast of this pink border on this black and white saree,a  combo which was on my list for a while. The saree looks way better than what was in the website, and I love the fact that its extremely light weight and elegant. 
Today's women like to experiment, and is fearless , hence , when I saw  Shruti hassan's Harper's Bazar cover shoot, where she is wearing Rahul Mishra I decided to let go of traditional drape and use her as my style  inspiration for this post and added a cummerbund to add a touch of eccentricity.A small pin brooch for a sleek and modern touch , and we are talking an Outfit .

Indo Western Ways to Wear A Sari

I got these photos clicked just before heading out for a wedding. I am not at all a Sari person ;rather you can call me a typical  fuddy-duddy stereotype women who gets away in a suit/churidar whenever there is an urgent demand to dress up in an ethnic wear n that's about it ! I can be counted as one of those Indian women who get intimidated at the mere thought of wearing a sari ! I own approx eight sari's mostly in brocade n kanjeevaram which were handed over forcefully by my mom,after giving me a whole culture appropriate talk  #mouthshut.
Recently my blogger friend  Aditi from So- Saree  mailed me about a blog feature on the theme Sari. I gulped in a chunk of thought and decided to redeem a few of my precious Saris my mother passed on so lovingly, and do a style post for her ! 
Sari for me is too constraining, and I got a lil spooked out to wear a blouse,especially when I had to put up with numbing days and arctic cold last month . Well ,when necessity becomes the mother of all inventions, I decided to bring more fun and alternate the blouse with my Zara turtle neck to give it a more indo western spin and a Bindi fix to work some Desi girl magic around and speak the language of elegance.

Happy Diwali | Indian Ethnic Wear

Wishing all my readers a very Happy and Prosperous Diwali ! Have not been keeping well with my health, and that reflected pretty much on my blog right here ! I was finding it difficult to pace up with blog and festivities ,hence things took a back seat ! Its Diwali, and dare not miss posting and wishing everyone good luck ! Hope you all have a fabulous and safe Deepawali . This is what I wore today .Picked up this beautiful Neon pink Anarkali Suit, with sequin border from SBJ and kept rest of the look simple. Have been trying no heat curls lately(no tools), and managed some good overnight  curls to flaunt today. I will try and do a tutorial soon on that . Till then , stay stylish and eat loads of sweets from my side !

KarvaChauth/ Wedding Trousseau

I grew up watching my Mom, observe the rituals of Karva-Chauth, and I would have watched DDLJ ( 90's bollywood movie) umpteen times ,the fav part being the glitz and traditions of this festival !
For my international readers, Karva chauth is the Indian Version of Valentine's day,Of course complete with,a mandatory expensive gift (dare not lure the wifey with just flowers)
Ok, Jokes apart its a one day festival where married women, seek a fast from morning till night without eating or drinking even a drop of water, and  pray for the longevity and safety of their husbands (Annual Life Insurance policy !! ) .The fast is concluded after a peek-a-boo of the rising Moon,which is  symbolic of Love and Beauty in  Indian mythology and poetic verses.
For me , it's a festival of happiness and renewal of love.Most important, we get to dress up in the wedding finery. I truly enjoy  buying ethnic stuff, the pomp and splendor,the decorated streets/markets where you bump into long lost friends,  the chit chat sessions while the henna artists are busy applying intricate designs on your hands.
Modern day Karva -Chauth is romanticized ! It kindles romance and love . But I have an opinion.. I feel there is no harm if husbands fast along too ! After all its about love and respect, and if practiced mutually ,harbors greater commitment,bonding and reassurance for the growing up kids as well. Its good to bond with traditions,but  don't you feel we should apply modern day logic?? BTW all the above philosophy is more of a carrot for my husband,who fasts with me and I would love if he continues forever (as I would also require my Annual Life Insurance policy to stay in place!!). Its not sacrifice its love !! Thoughts anyone ?
Moving to the outfit, when we talk of a fancy festival, the outfit cannot be any lesser. I wore this beautiful Lehenga -Choli dress from Study By Janak , finished with beautiful weaving's of Dabka, svarovski and Zari, with a Sequin and gotta border designs. Velvet is going to be a huge trend this fall, and I didn't think twice in picking up this piece from their wedding collection.The colors seemed to be complimenting each other from the merger of red, and fuchsia envied by the contrast of green and purple ! And for all my  readers, who asked me if I ever wore traditional outfits too, well this your answer !!

Indian Ethnic Wear Designs By BIBA India

I believe that today's Indian women are pretty much warming up to the idea of adding a twist to the previously prevalent Indian Ethnic wear designs. For a lot of  women who are not comfortable with western wear and  kind of hit a wall when it comes to finding perfect designs and styles in ethnic wear, then you needn't go that far, coz a BIBA store could be right near you. And when I say that they have taken a bit of a tradition and converted it into art, I do mean it. This time while I was reviewing BIBA's recent collection, I discovered that they have everything under one roof  for women of every age-For women of today ! For a college going girl to an office going women, and for the ones who want a flamboyant design  to boast about in a party, BIBA has all that and a lot more to offer.
The subtle  embroidery patterns,vibrant hues with modern detailing, yet infused with traditional appeal,Incredible fit, and breathable fabric surely did put up a smile on my face:)
