Fashion week confessions and Denim skirt | Indian Street Style

Tuesday, 13 September 2016 / , , , , ,

As runway revolves every three weeks, I have started to realize how my evolutionary tendencies are at odds trying to grab that last piece of accessory driving myself nuts . I love attending fashion weeks and appreciate the dedication of designers and the clothes they offer, but Am I the right audience for most of what I see ? Forget that, coz as long one has the power of influencing,we are sending the messages and live updates straight off the ramp, bloggers and influential editors alike breaking heads with their phones, but seriously how many women are ? About 200 odd men and women sitting right in front of me on the buyer's side ,which I suspect are all there for the entertainment part of it.Extend this a bit more, maybe to create a desire for the products and self created stardom and that's it . Its a tectonic shift happening beneath us, a bit destabilizing but full of possibilities since street fashion came into play. Street fashion is not just what is influencing the runway , but is becoming high fashion.
When most of world population is either consumed with acquisition or basic survival, practical chic and taste are way too complex to sell these days. I don't know if it's me but I feel that much of the language around clothes sounds forced. While I have my own Ahaaa moments , I want to be the woman who knows what she likes and take pride in what she wears.
Clearly keeping my finger on the fashion pulse, I am that grown up girl who likes pretty outfits and love looking pretty in them. So for the next season, you may find that my fashion sense may be at odds again with contemporary tropes of luxury, that don't shout their antecedents and don't bear designer names along with a few money spinning accessories ( only accessories , I swear) already done and paid for and negotiated into coveted fashion shoots, my focus is going to be on styling.
Till then this much on trend denim skirt with  Edward scissor hands style top both from Stalk buy love is keeping me on trend collectively displaying something new in fashion and trend , more noteworthy and more honest without having to spill too much of my $$$.

Work Wear Monochrome

Going down the nostalgic lane, "I catch myself in the mirror, skinny self , in my long pencil skirt which had a half sheer bottom , pin striped shirt that fit, black block heels and mauve lippie. It was an era of "Never a slave for fashion " and I was the only one breaking rules. I liked the influence and power that came along with dressing well back in those days. Even now, beyond that, I liked the way dressing sharp makes me feel.
I have never been a fan of workwear since the time I became girlboss. Obviously you don't need an expert-endorsed outfit to wear to work. Sometimes its less complicated than you may think, and in more present times, if you are cool to experiment, its actually a no brainer. For eg this Monochrome Co-ords from Stalk Buy Love. What I needed to throw in was a good pair of hoops, wine lips and a popping bag , and I was done to shake up my office style and call it power dressing.
Its always a great idea to invest in basics. And with that I mean more of blacks an whites in the closet. This way they could be easily paired with a lot of other pieces. You should really know your stuff coz ,No one's gonna discount you for dressing well. But they'll sure as hell discount you for dressing like a slob, so why give them a chance ?

Postcards From South India | Prints Blend - A Fashion Outfit

Sunday, 9 March 2014 / , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

If you follow my blog then you would be aware when I talked of my last Vacation to Kerala and Mumbai during NewYear's.Sure we did the only thing that one is supposed to -Relax , take pictures and take some more pictures. Vacation Pictures makes up not only for an excellent Blog content but a great Set-up for some really Panoramic photos .Who would miss on this right ? Though I tried to write about it while it was all fresh, I tried but could not keep up. And then I was the jerk next door only to lose my sd card . Well the good thing is that I am happy to recover it now . So let me just make a quick memory prompt for me besides making them public for y'all and share some golden moments.
We reached Vaikundam after a 2hr drive from Trivandrum airport and reached at Anantya Resort .The place is surrounded by Chittar lake from all sides and every cottage in the resort comes with a view. We decided to shoot these pictures just right outside our room , which came with an ideal spot to sip coffee and read a book and slip in the beauty of the place. More on that on my next post.

Found myself A Spot in the Garden .It started to drizzle. The sound of the raindrops echoed in the silence. Pure bliss.

Just a  Happy Freaky girl on Vacation.

Fashion Trends- Animal Head print Dress And a Facinator

Tuesday, 20 August 2013 / , , , , , , , , , , ,

Every girl if not love dresses , and I am not an exception . I am always on a look out for  dresses, which offers comfort, and are a bit loose, and accentuates the best of your body. The moment I walked in the store, and saw this dress. somewhere  it made my heart skip a beat because the color palette was perfect, and those lil tiger heads reminded me of zoo and instantly all the risks were taken and suddenly I am talking a big trend which is bounding onto the fall scene ! The only thing to watch out for is getting the right size print to suit your body type and of course exercising a little trend independent fashion judgement topping it off with a bit confidence(and a playful attitude ,if u don't mind that either).

On another note I was sent this beautiful Fascinator by Shilpa from The Young Designers Collective.
The Young Designers Collective is an association of artists and designers based in New York City, who design for non-profit organizations to promote good.
YDC allows for a free exchange of ideas and talents, thereby fostering the growth of artists and art in commercial design. Their initiative is to bring appreciation back to the artist behind the designer, to quality or handmade products and to a more sustainable future.
The artist and the designer behind this lovely Fascinator is- Shilpa Iyengar who graduated from Parsons School of Design in 2012, and use fashion as a platform to bring her love of art into a functional form. Inspired by her travels across the world and her love of cultural history, she design clothing, shoes, hats, and textiles and infact most of her work  has been printed and painted by hand and solidifies the idea of creating wearable art.
Customizing apparels, printing textiles, and designing some enviable one of its kind pieces is definitely her forte, and you can have a  detailed look at her art and creations on her Webpage.
