Confessions of a Digital shopper

Wednesday, 6 May 2015 / , , ,

It was going to be a long day, as I  had my next shoot in place. I already predicted that the day was going to be on a roll.
Morning Yoga classes, and then coming home to a day full of engagements , and meetings wherein me skipping breakfast, only meant my vim and vitality to be already under a cloud .
I started on a note of mix ups and miscommunications, and was late for my fittings with the designer, and on top of that, you fix up a hungry , cranky women in the scene, with my astute people's skill been already gone for a toss .You  know what to expect.. right ?
Anyways,  Co-ordinated my schedule with hubster, asked him to meet me at HKV(stressed on how important this shoot was , and he needed to be on time to assist ) and left to scintillate the storehouse of fashion and get myself fitted into something nice.
As lucky it may seem , I was pretty much before time, decided to go grab a grub, found a nice spot at the hip cafe, gazing outside the long window, with my multi-tasking glares on, planning on my next move, waiting for my food.
Hubby was late. I randomly opened Myntra's app , and started browsing through casually, which I found to be so involving, that the wicked corner of my brain awakened .I called him to inform that for every quarter of an hour he is late , he would have to pay for one purchase.Well, initially the idea was to joke around, so that he could reel himself up to reach me soon, but heck, I had some time to kill, and a little therapy, could make my day a little brighter.
Shopping is a thrill. Its  a more lightweight experience when you are slurping coffee and gobbling on a cheese laden focaccia . Its the mixmatch that a shop-a-holic like me could ever ask for. So all done without even lifting a finger. The backdrop of the cafe partly contributed into my little blue sky thinking and virtual fitting rooms, and I picked up more than what was needed(story of every women), shoes, bag, jeans, lipstick, yellow top and... I was so engrossed mixing and matching that I failed to notice hubby standing right over my shoulders giving me the look of a defeated soldier shot in the achilles heel. With a down beat look he by then was surely able to comprehend my impulsive shopping behaviour. I wish I could capture the priceless look on his face.lol

All I can say in the end is that, a little tact goes a long way. This little spare time for a spot of retail therapy , probably without any company  are the days that I live for.
Truly I was expansive with my feelings but less generous with the cash. Who knew, reestablishing order could be so therapeutic.I call this constructive vengeance.Clearly, shopping apps is my new kindle. There is something about the power of these devices, that makes them engrained to become a part of my life. Since the time I became more savvy into taking charge of my shopping habits, the fear of disconnecting with this lil pleasure gives me Jitters about losing  the ubiquity of seamless shopping experience. Clearly I am hooked, and nothing like holding the reins , choosing when and how I want my shopping to happen .
Lets see in the coming months what's more to discover in this tap away world that we have already stepped in .

WOOLMARK AND RAYMOND ANNOUNCE THE LAUNCH OF COOL WOOL IN INDIA

Thursday, 6 March 2014 / , , , , , , , ,

The Woolmark , the world’s best known textile fibre brand, established in 1964, Collaborated with Raymond to show off their Merino at The Australian High Commission in Delhi. The Evening witnessed a spectacular fashion show and some cool  wooly collection on the very much dapper Randeep Hooda, and of cource some spruced up hot models, walking the ramp in Raymonds and looking nothing less than A complete Man(men). Its time we say Bye-Bye to the whole tropical weight wool which we can't just wait to take off and instead welcome the cool wool collection cool enough for even the most easily overheated.
On display at a fashion show  was a collection of more than 20 garments designed by Indian fashion designer Jai Gupta – with contemporary styling, finesse, and subtle designs. This collection will be introduced in the market from March 2014 at Raymond stores and leading multi-branded outlets in the country.

Have a look :)

Model In the Cool Wool Collection

I really love this idea of Slouch Business pants instead of the fitted ones. These are perfect to wear casually and formally both.

Peter Ackroyd, global strategic advisor for The Woolmark Company with Bollywood Actor Randeep Hooda

In a continuous effort to promote wool as a trans-seasonal fibre in India, The Woolmark Company and Raymond have entered into a partnership to launch a complete new Cool Wool collection for Indian customers. The partnership reiterates The Woolmark Company’s commitment to drive awareness about the plethora of benefits that wool offers and is strengthened by joining with Raymond - India’s leading menswear brand and the leading manufacturer, marketer and retailer of worsted suiting fabrics over the past eight decades.

Cool Wool garments are manufactured from lightweight Merino wool fabrics with a maximum weight of 190 g/m² and a maximum mean wool fibre diameter of 22.5 micron. Merino wool is used for its natural, breathable and thermal-management properties in lighter-weight fabrics for warmer climates such as India’s.

The Cool Wool range from Raymond includes 100 per cent wool fabric as well as blends with natural fibres including silk, cotton and linen.

Peter Ackroyd, global strategic advisor for The Woolmark Company said “India has a tropical, climate and customers avoid wearing wool garments in summers, as they clearly identify the fabric with winters. We want to negate this notion. Indian customers need to understand the true potential, versatility, and the benefits of using wool in summers. With Cool Wool, we are confident and believe that Indians will fathom the adaptability of wool in summers.

Cool Wool offers a variety of smart and comfortable fabrics that includes pure wool lightweight fabrics in Super 100’S Merino wool and innovative blends of Merino wool in combination with other natural fibres manufactured using innovative technology that ensures natural breathability and temperature regulation thus, making it an ideal fibre to be worn all year long.

Australia’s Acting High Commissioner, Mr Bernard Philip, said “Australia is the world’s leading wool producer, accounting for around one quarter of the global wool production and Australia has a long tradition of trade with India in wool. In 2012-13, India was the second largest market for Australian wool and Australia was the largest source of India’s wool imports".

About The Woolmark Company

The Woolmark brand is owned by Australian Wool Innovation (AWI), a not-for-profit company owned by more than 27,000 woolgrowers. AWI’s vision is to be a significant contributor to a vibrant, stable and profitable wool industry providing the world with the best natural fibre. The company works throughout the global supply chain – from woolgrowers through to retailers. The company mission is to enhance the profitability, international competitiveness and sustainability of the Australian wool industry; and increase demand and market access for Australian wool. Merino wool provides stability, resilience, softness and luxury to the tailoring industry. The fibre has long been a favourite of designers, but younger consumers, born in an era of ‘disposable’ fashion know too little about the natural benefits.  Wool is a 100 per cent natural and renewable fibre. Sheep live on grass, water, fresh air and sunshine. Wool is a fibre that is grown – not man-made. Every year, sheep produce a new fleece, making wool a renewable fibre source.

Winter Style Update- PLAID COAT

Thursday, 16 January 2014 / , , , , , , , , , , ,

The start of 2014 has been decent for me. Ok to be honest, It started on a good and fat note of splurge. My first PRADA bag is on the way, and I am counting days. I have been reading a lot of blogs, and the bloggers new year's resolution on how not to splurge this year I find myself  being a scrooge when I read them, grinning over silently and thinking, well at least its not my part of the plan yet !!
I don't have a humongous bag collection. I had always picked bags from customs store or from the streets during my hay college days, because I didn't have a "Sugar Daddy" to fund me.
Ever since I got married, I am allowed to buy just one bag a year. And I have the liberty to chose from any luxury brands,so that it lasts me a decade(we call them throw around bags). Now since I am trying to understand fashion better and I see it truly as an art form, I have started supporting all things creative and entrepreneurial. I have shifted my focus from being a lady who desires to Luxe to a lady who loves to be artsy.
I remember last time I got Mr. Hubs to snap at me when I bought this Dior inspired bag from Bangkok.
let me quote him for you- " Money is meant to be spent (read – used wisely), not hoarded. Your satisfaction (or any other synonym) depends on how smartly you spend it. Skip it up and I'll buy you a Dior next year "
Guess my over enthusiasm for Prada is only a way to beat the winter blues. Its shivering cold in Delhi, but nothing compared to the -48C in most of North America ! This Blankety scarf and My new Asos knee boots are a sure means to keep off the wind chill factor.

Perfect Blend

Monday, 3 September 2012 / , , , , , , , , , , ,

Clubbing fashion with tradition can really notch up any look big time ! Indian culture is so detailed, that it easily allows one to mix and match to bring change in any form of dressing, while keeping the comfort quotient high too !

Today's look is all about mixed dressing and I am linking this post with Infb remix-Indian fusion . I really Pine for International designs around the runway which are blooming with Indian motifs, brocades, mirror work and what not  ! Spoil rotten? yes maybe !

I have experimented this style of dressing earlier too-here(in a faint form) , but for the current look I thought to bring a little more glee by giving a touch of bindi and bangles to my paisley printed tunic and pairing it with shorts. What say ?
P.S: I have spotted a lot of Delhi girls going Ballistic about wearing a Bindi. The transformation of "Bindi" into a hip accessory has lately been fueled by Kareena Kapoor's upcoming movie "Heroine". After all Bollywood and fashion are synchronic -Aint' It?
Have  earlier worn this tunic with my white patialas and Stilettos !
