Anamika Khanna X Amrapali - ICW2016

Sunday, 24 July 2016 / , , ,

Softer Ivories have their own timeless charm , right  ?  Anamika Khanna's offsite show  collection at the Leela Palace, Delhi made me fall in love with lighter tones as never before.
Oyster pink, jade, powder blue and rose, mustard  never looked so charming until Anamika brought them in different flavours of  cuts and silhouettes that left me speechless.
The garments had her signature trails, cape with trails rather a great mix of modern without having to sacrifice on tradition. Long coats with petal detailing were paired with reinvented shararas , sarees re-emerged, and the oversized coats with popping 3D embroidery popped my eyeballs.
The fuller skirts with higher waistlines crossed the thin line between a cocktail dress and a lehenga skirt.

The Persian Story - Manish Malhotra - India Couture Week 2016

Thursday, 21 July 2016 / , ,

Of all the designers I love, there is one who is capable to put you always on the edge of your seat.
The people sitting ahead of me were kind enough, to share the space so that I could bring you close to what happened at the Opening show by Manish Malhotra at India Couture Week 2016- all the action is right here.
Nothing is cropped. And so is not my story. I have a complete vision of all the garments as seen by my enthusiastic self.
The Persian story- was one of its kind. Lets begin from the set, coz that's where all the magic started.
The fauna, the flora, the pillars, the lights, the lamps transported everyone. Not to forget the typical Persian runway music.
The ramp was depictive of the Persian architecture, its elements, going back to an era of Alexandra the Great.
The fusion of the two eras, was deeply impactful.
Coming to the collection, the models looked liked Royal Princesses of history, that we have only read about in books. The clothes were extravagant, the  Iranian embroidery was never ending on top of it if I tell you that there were 50 limited edition pieces , think of the time and immeasurable efforts taken to bring out and conceptualise it to what it was.
The hand woven golden embroidery on the velvet gowns , cigarette pants, trail gowns, perpetual plaid sherwani's on men in maroon, emerald green and azure blue made me drool every time each piece made its way through my eyes.
The off shoulder gowns, Dupattas with sheer opulence is the only thing a bride should set her eyes and heart on this wedding season.
So all you to brides to be, if ever and ever you want to buy a designer piece to cherish over a lifetime, and pass down to the generations,  you should seriously have a look at the couturier's store, (Delhi and Mumbai ) and tell me which ones you are favourite ?

Bolywood Heart throb Fawad khan opened the show and Deepika Padukone closed the show.
Breathtaking jewellery with uncut polki diamonds and pearls by HazoorilalJewellers by SandeepNarang added the elegance to the already beautiful collection. What a great amalgamation of culture, architecture, and clothes. It was a sheer delight to be a part of the show.

Diwali Outfit | Indian Festive Wear

Thursday, 23 October 2014 / , , , , , , , , , ,

Happy Diwali :)
I wanted this post up today morning, but something or the other kept on clinging.Wore this outfit for a Diwali party and some fun with friends, and wanted to keep it less on Bling and high on Zing, and the colors of this skirt and choli, scream the true vibrancy of this festival. I have never worn rainbow colors in such a beautiful form, and when I was shopping for my karvachauth outfit, somehow my eyes were fixated on this piece, which has a timeless beauty of its own. The best part- it would never be out of trend ! I had worn this blouse earlier during fashion week , with pants, and I can just right now think of so many more ways these pieces could make my wardrobe staples tune in with each other.
I am leaving for a tiny vacation in few days, so let me Keep it short as of now, and run to do my Diwali pooja, before its too late. Hope you don't eat too much sweets , and even if you do, don't forget to sweat it out, coz it won't be fair to not slip into these beautiful dresses again :)

"Ferozabad Express" By SABYASACHI At India Couture week-2014

Tuesday, 22 July 2014 / , , , , , ,

India Couture week opened up with a grand spectacle in an old world charm created by Indian Designer Sabyasachi .Magnificence took a center stage and we all waited  for Sabya to cast his magic. Infact I even went up and called him "Jadoogar" of Indian couture on twitter coz  there is something so traditional and transforming in his bridal wear which definitely lends an edge of its own kind .
It was a full house, and we were relegated to sit tight and packed ,that for a moment I felt like running . Though the seating were not at all strategically set-from the point of photography, but everything is acceptable when Its a Sabya's Show.
It was the whole set-up that got much of the talking. The lights were dim and we could make out a train compartment sort of setting when the music started to play . It was a first class coach of Ferozabad express with real passengers on-board. Sleeper coach saw some bunker beds,  with nicely done up interiors and wooden work in deep burgundy hue. Though at a point I felt the interiors were tuned in accord to the color palette of the collection . There was a lady in a Burkha and my eyes  were Just stuck on  to a huge 40' Orange  Birkin kept on the top birth where she was seated which apparently belonged to her.
Ferozabad is know for hand embroidery and  art, hence all the garments reflected the traditional and Indian touch . The color Palette saw some sophisticated European pastels making a move with Ivories and cream as the base. The canvas lehengas and Muslim motifs Parsi zardozi and Afghan Crewel work took center stage . For that extravagant feel, The Bandhgala Jackets with printed trousers were sewed in with 18 carat gold buttons. The Paschminas is a symbol of eternity, and it has formed a major part of our wardrobes . It was interesting to see how it could be modified as a stole and draped with a Khadi crystal embellished Nehru Jacket. There were a lot of things which caught some special interest, like the Hand embroidered and Zardozi coats, in striking colors, which made perfect sense with the Men Classic lucknow style full beard And the  boxy clutches for women which matched the embroidery of the outfits.

"World Bride" By Designer Monisha Jaising at India Couture Week 2014

Monday, 21 July 2014 / , , ,

A week full of lavishness, Intense Outfits and High end drama just wrapped up for me after India Couture week (ICW 2014) came to an end yesterday at Taj Palace , New Delhi !
It was an Eye candy to watch High fashion fitted outfits, worthy of making a red carpet appearance made to fit  to" T" molded onto the curves of the feminine body of those Hot models, down to the last measurements . As usual, some were fancy enough to keep me on a lust watch until they filter down the market for me to buy ,while some were just passable enough for me .I would be sharing my love for the best couturiers with their chic and progressive designs who really kept me wanting for more and more !
Day 3 saw designer Monisha Jaising bringing out her magic in her collection and then there was something to suit everyone .
I met Monisha  for a formal dinner just a few days before the show and I gotta tell you that I haven't seen a designer more grounded and subdued with a warm heart as hers ! She is truly hospitable and brought about a cool sense of energy with her kind words and friendly nature.
Monisha Jaising collection was based on her theme" World Bride " I literally loved this idea . A world bride is a destination bride, the one who is on a go , and is supposed to take her vows anywhere and in any part of the country ! She looks out for a fuss free clothing at the same time still wanna  look her best and feels luxurious !
The stage opened up recreating a cobbled Paris street , with a roadside french cafe and portrait makers . French painters wearing typical french style caps were painting the models portrait. In between the trot, the models would pause and be the muse for the painters !
A modern bride doesn't necessarily have to wear a Sari, and with that being thought, their was an appearance of Sari gowns to woolen Sherwanis with printed leggings and fitted corset gowns in kanjeevaram madras silk which had a perspective Indian touch .The feathered Saris in ivory and structured embroidered Kurtis in luxe fabrics and gold coiled fitted blouses, were the main highlight of her collection .

Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Concluded with Indian Designer Namrata Joshipura| FDCI

Monday, 31 March 2014 / , , , ,

The Wills Lifestyle Grand Finale by Namrata Joshipura inspired by the next revolution in human science concluded the Autumn Winter edition of Asia’s premiere fashion and trade event Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week in New Delhi at Pragati Maidan ITC’s premium lifestyle brand Wills Lifestyle marked its successful collaboration with the acclaimed designer by presenting a spectacular Grand Finale.
A striking amalgamation of futuristic designs and a dramatic show, the Finale impressed the audience with fascinating elements of grandeur.
The Grand Finale opened with a high-octane light driven show making quite an impression. The set up was dramatic with a LED lit ramp, creating a special experience for the audience. Kick starting the show was an impressive live music presentation that gave way to models sashaying down in striking avant-garde designs rooted in bold, and sensational silhouettes.
I got a chance to see the set up, which was quite predictable and we all guessed the finale to be a show of lights, but what we did not know was the dance performance by artists in reflective suits that were engineered to befit the theme of the collection, and was also the main highlight of her show.
L- The designer herself-Namrata Joshipura and R-Kangana Ranaut wearing a trail off shoulder Red carpet  gown with a sci-fi inspired make up(from Mac) and metallic tipped lips.
Mohawk Inspired hairdo pulls off all over space age silver and was a total dazzler. I Even Loved the sculpted hairdos, which seemed to be marrying the space age interpretation of every garment . Very Outlandish Must say.

Un-Veiling Of Designer Ritu Beri's Fashion Swim Wear Collection At Quan Spa -JW Marriot, Delhi

Saturday, 29 March 2014 / , , , , , ,

Last Sunday Afternoon, Jw Marriot, Aerocity, witnessed some fashionable names-dropping at the poolside ,where an intense swimwear collection was put together by none other than our very talented Ritu Beri who sent down some gorgeous Models in the most desirable  swimwear collection, that we didn't stand a chance to Bat an eyelid. We were all blessed, when the weather gods decided to smile on us , and showered us with a bit of rain, and some surprisingly cool breeze, Just an ideal set up to sip on some soul warming cocktails and enjoy the models kick start to the tunes of  smooth Umbrella, playing Live.

Lovely and colorful cutout Bikinis with detailed designing/weaving in Crochet. These Black cover-ups looked very royal with the golden tassels, Just put it on and feel like a million dollars.
Quickly grabbed a moment with the designer, and we talked about the collection. The  Swim wear Collection will be all for grabs at The Quan Spa, JW marriot, Aerocity. I think I need one of those Capes.

The lady with a million dollar smile poses with all  the models.Ruffles were in full throttle too !

Jas Arora's passion for fashion is truly evident as he puts his rare talent into creating a look that can make heads turn.. He is Grounded to the G and i admire his sense of colorzz. This pastel Blue jacket  worn with luxuriously made plaid pants seemed to be bringing together the semi-casual  look which he wanted to show off, with a scarf being that extra in the mile and giving the illusion of a better canvas.

JW Marriot,Delhi serves one of the best Veg Sushi, but u gotta try that with the fiery paste of the Wasabi,if u can bear with the spiciness of the thing. After all its got a Job to do.These roasted apricots on the toasties, and the sheer exuberance of the preparations were never a too much .

The Place to let loose and Immerse in the Exotic- The Quan Spa(award winning), which was unveiled  the same day. After an hour of grounding myself in killing heels, that's me getting ready for  my foot massage.
The Celine of course gets its own seat too :)

JAS ARORA debuts Modern Craft Atelier at Hotel JW Marriot, Aerocity, New Delhi

Saturday, 22 March 2014 / , , , , , ,

It was an evening of dazzle, fun and fashion when Actor turned entrepreneur Jas Arora with Sandeep Gupta,Executive Director, Asian Hotels west ltd. played the perfect hosts to celebrate the launch of  his debut ,bespoke modern craft fashion atelier  “Jas Arora”  at JW Mariott Aerocity, New Delhi. The well heeled fashion lovers of the capital came together to raise a toast to celebrate the opening over cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.
Dressed smartly in white pants and A Duke blue jacket, lending a pop of color through his Orange Hermes belt, with a string of Beads round the neck, Jas possessed every bit of the swag to leave everyone spell bound. He took over the evening in posing with the paparazzi and talking about his venture and the collection.
I was totally left in awe by the way he shook up his personal clean shaved look years back, and brought in the nasty overgrown mooch, which truly got a lot of  women attention on my Instagram Page(check check).
Singer Jasbir Jassi- of "Dil le gayi" Fame is Such a humble being . He truly needs to make a comeback- don't ya'all think ?
Let's Talk about the collection - Well, the collection  seemed to be perfectly perched on the line between what is fashion-forward and what people would love to wear. Their was a color riot, in the men's jacket shouting out loud in pretty pastels. It somehow meant to be giving a message to all the Menfolk- "Stay colorful this spring".Besides the color, the Jackets were given the perfect  cuts while the baroque ones seemed to be pushing the visual limits. However, it’s interesting to note how the designer translates his taste into what they themselves wear, which was pretty evident from Jas Arora's delicious burst of personal style.
For the women, it had everything to fall very much in love with, be it the colors(blended well in a lovely amalgamation of intricate designs), the choli's and the bridal lehengas just seemed to be perfectly tailored.
The minute we walked inside the store, we got enamored with the interiors. Totally art filled and grand. The already Luxe interiors were outfitted with wall to wall Poster size Glamour portrait of the designer himself ,which was worth a dig.Impressive -must admit.
That's us making use of whatever time we had to mingle over a glass of wine and getting lost n posing for the Photo op Marathon.

Sharing his insights on the store opening, Jas Arora said, “My vision is to create a wardrobe that is sharp in both look and pricing, and is designed for the glamorous urban consumer. Hence I am also providing a distinct service with the USP of customization to whoever walks in to the store.”
