"Indian Food and Wine" Book by Michael Swamy and Nine Hills | The Opening Of Cafe Delhi Heights, Cyber Hub,Gurgaon

Sunday, 25 May 2014 / , , , , , , , , , , ,

Cyber Hub  has become  the new corporate leisure center, representing distant future, and is a diners paradise !  Food and wine connoisseurs, restaurant hoppers, shoppers ,you name it, and its the most popular hangout zone even for us delhities !
Cafe Delhi Heights, is one of my favorite eating places, and when I got an invite By Nine hills to witness the launch of  an exclusive book to pair Indian food with wine, I couldn't resist the temptation ...
Michael Swamy , an Indian Chef and food stylist is the proud author,of the book titled- "Guide to pairing Indian food and Wine"  was present to talk about the inspiration, and infact churn out few recipes from the book, and show off some cooking skills in a quick demo of some of the stellar Recipes ! It was fun to know that the key to making the  best matches are an open mind and sheer intuitiveness, and which comes from experience.
It is the first book in the wine category in India that takes a holistic look at pairing of the flavors, textures and heat levels of Indian food, with wine.
I was quite surprised when he talked of pairing wines unlike the classic combos of Stilton cheese, but rather one could go ahead and experiment it by bringing the most authentic Indian dishes or street food combos and make them marry to suit our palette  !
This event also marked the opening of cafe Delhi heights Cyber hub, Gurgaon and if you ask me my favorites from the menu, we have a great conversation promised ahead.
Above L- Nine Hills(formerly known as seagrams India, has some of the finest award winning wines, and I always find their wines overwhelming zippy. Above R- Cafe Delhi Heights opened on 21st May , drop in , coz it feels like  home away from home.
Down L- A glimpse of the interiors-Very Meditarrean- Down R- An overpacked Cafe, and the crowd waiting for Michael Swamy to begin the demo.
Above- roasted Chicken, and stuffed Mushrooms, Below - The best Fruit sangria in Making.
Above- The owners Of Cafe Delhi Heights and Maria Goretti the celebrity face of the evening ! My fame less nerdy glasses got the conversation started with her and we got into this selfie act later.

Sipping Four Seasons Wines

Tuesday, 29 January 2013 / , , , ,

Wanna Expand your knowledge on wines ? Fancy about how these, are made and what they should be served with? Well then you need to start tasting a few ! That's what I did on a recent wine tasting event by Four Season's Wine, held in New Delhi at Ardor ! It only took a bit of introduction to get us all started and feeling comfortable about tasting and assessing wines ! We were given a small presentation on the academics behind the wine, not to forget  the food pairings which goes well with different wines !  And  I liked the 'sitting round the table' idea to taste them coz It created a very relaxed vibe too..Didn't realize there was so much to it ! It's pretty much an art in itself ! Although I knew some of the basics to tasting, but this event helped draw it all ! Great Wine Combos with some tasty snacks and blogger chit chat were the highlights of the evening ! From Interesting Red's and Whites to Intriguing Ros'e There is no better way of being able to discern your own tastes with so many wines to choose from  Four Season's ! Cheers !
