You get all fancy dressed up, make up is on point, blotting sheets in plenty, hat check, shoe check, jewellery check , makeup check, thinking whaaaa there is this coachella look that I just cannot show you all.
Everything is fine until now. The camera, golden hour in hand. Although people just can't get enough of you staring, thinking all that Street style shizz happening, but that's passable too. Its a struggle to put on something only to realize that you are showing your readers more than your styling skills.
Well it happened. The Suede from my shoes cracked . Before you judge me , there is one thing you should know about me. My clothes may be in a mess, but its my shoes and bags that I take utmost care of. Not even jewellery. Who scrubs the soles of her shoes after every use ? Well I do. They are my babies, and I like to keep them immensely scratch free and clean . Never realized that there is a flip side to cleaning your shoes. If you fancy similar obsession, stop, take a U turn and read what happened next.
These pumps were absolutely fine when I got out of the car. Fine till I walked to the most favourable spot in Connaught Place, coz that's when we bought our favourite Keventers milkshake where it spilled a teensy bit on the shoe.
Well now I have two choices, either go back home and change or do some on the spot drycleaning. Second idea seemed more pragmatic.
Call me a shoe doctor, but I always take pride in rectifying a shoe crisis. Out came the blotting sheet and water sprinklers from the water bottle in our hand, and there I went scrubbing the stain off quickly before the milkshake forced its colour on the pretty yellow suede. The scrubbing was gentle,but the stain was hard so a little more force(as I can't have a stained shoe with an outfit I put on so generously). Turned out the stain was pretty generous too. As a mother of a growing up kid,I am much aware of applying the right pressure for tough jobs.But the shoe was equally adamant and gave me a tough standoff in the arm wrestling match.Suddenly it decided to crack than to mend its colour.First it was a fault line, then,as if to mock at my fashion styling expertise,it became the great American Gorge.
Now I was at the crossroad where I could have gone back, changed , and started from scratch ( the irony in a scratch) Or I could have very well, and easily cropped all the pics, as if nothing happened , and this funny tale would have never leaked. But then what the heck,its not always that you get to laugh at your own misadventure. After all this is not a magazine cover and neither I am a Bollywood queen .While engaging yourself at 'spot the difference' game,do enjoy a laugh at my expense.
