DAY4 #AIFWSS16 DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT - ANEETH ARORA - I LOVE PERO

Day 4 - ANEETH ARORA'S
PYJAMA PARTY
I LOVE PERO FOR - AIFWSS16

I love Pero- The invite was nothing fancy, but held a lot of emojis  and hashtags in a whatsapp message, inviting all the gals to a pyjama party. The idea sounded fun , exciting, and very innovative, and never done before on the Indian ramp.
So strong was the backing of  pyjama dressing , that practically, the models were just being themselves, jumping on the beds, candid laughs, sleepover gossips, throwing pillows, dancing, and secretly admiring their 60's crush in candid peek-a boo laughters.
The bed linen shades of white and blue made the most overt bedtime references. The dresses were super casual, khadi shorts, cotton button up skirts, and gingham print headband scarves.
The pin-stripes were the happy middle ground, and were palatable for a fun outwear appearances.
The collection was very laid back, and accessed a restful theme.Simple sun-dresses ,pyjamas co-ordinates added a fresh zeal, for an activewear attired morning starts.
Swinging glances from the audience were the proof, that nobody wanted the slumber party to end.
There were boxers in the goodie bag. I wore them when I came home, and languished in my sheets, thinking that it was a show I could never forget .

DAY 3- NIDA MAHMOOD FOR AIFWSS16
JUNGLEE BILLEE

I expected a lot of cat fight or some high end feline approach to the ramp since her collection was called "Wild cat "None happened, but the massive head gears surely got us the vibe.
The collaboration with Adidas originals was the high point, and I jumped when the Sari's were paired with wedge neon sneakers(all from adidas).
She is known for her quirky prints ,(#queenofkitsch) and that's what the prints were all about. Inspired by her love for vintage and art deco, there is always a new appeal and a fresh outlook to her prints, and the design movement was pretty strong.
There was an  eclectic mix of antiquated elements as props (vintage camera, radio etc) as well as modern territories of innovative ways of sari draping. There was a unique freshness to the graphics and looked  cutting edge on the simple shifts and dresses.

DAY 3 POONAM DUBEY FOR AIFWSS16

The Masakali vibes opened the show for Poonam Dubey. The song has a lot of emotions, and the  fusion Indian wear presented had similar feelings, for eg from gypsy vibes, to phulkari work on the dupattas, Angrakha paired with white dhotis, mirror work , intricate thread weaving and jalli design sitting pretty on the back, took us on a humming note and my mind wandered a wee bit to the lanes of Delhi-06 .
The colour palette carried different hues of blue. Interesting patchwork, delicate capes panelled skirts , and flared lehengas were the main highlights of her collection. The sari had lovely pocket detailing, and the lehengas were made for twirling.

Day 1 #AIFWSS16 - ANAVILA Misra

Wednesday, 7 October 2015 / ,

Day 1 -
Anavila- I have been stalking them on Instagram, and have been in love with the fascinating saree's that she has created. The drapes are so relaxed , and comforted that they looked so effortless while on the ramp too.
The best part about her sari's are that one need not be a size petite to carry them off. I have seen women of all sizes carrying an Anavila on her Instagram ,including a lot of celebrities, and they looked beautiful .
The collection named Balance ,saw different weaves, but the colour was muted, with cream, and beige and grey. The fabric was luxe khadi, natural dye and woven linen which are a breeze looking at the hot months we face in our country.
