Are Designer Sunglasses Worth the Price?

Monday 24 August 2015 /

When it comes to sunglasses, you have countless options to choose from, including expensive and fancy designer sunglasses and those that are really affordable and don't come with a brand name attached.
Many people choose to go with the more expensive designer options out there, as these
tend to be the most stylish and they do come with a level of prestige that people are proud to show off.

But are designer sunglasses like those available for eg at the at many e-commerce websites like Lenskart in India and RedHotSunglasses internationally really worth the high price tag?

Quality Comes with a Price

If you want a high quality product, you need to pay a higher price for it, and that's the case in the world of sunglasses too. Even though the quality might not be very different from one designer brand to another, you'll definitely notice a jump in quality when you move from a no-name pair of sunglasses to a pair that's made by one of the popular designers in the world of fashion.

Everything from the construction and materials used, to the level of reliable UV protection, is better on a designer pair of sunglasses, as these will have better lens coatings and stronger materials. The UV coating on a cheap pair of sunglasses, for example, is probably on a thin film that could eventually fade or even peel or melt off, whereas the UV protection will be embedded into designer lenses.

You'll End Up Spending More Replacing Cheap Sunglasses

Even though you can purchase a cheap pair of sunglasses and not worry about putting too much of your money into the investment or having to worry about breaking or losing them, the truth is that you'll probably end up spending more money in the long run.
This is because cheap sunglasses are constructed of poor quality materials that will more easily break. And if you're less careful with them simply because you know that they're cheap, you'll be more likely to damage them or lose them.
This will ultimately require that you head out and purchase a new pair again and again. Over time, these replacements can add up to the amount that you would've spent on a designer pair that would've lasted longer and that you would've cared enough about to keep in good shape.

Designer Sunglasses Simply Look and Fit Better
Because of their better quality materials and construction, you can anticipate that a pair of designer sunglasses will fit your face more perfectly than a cheap knock-off or no-name pair of sunglasses. After all, designers make it a point to not only create fashionable items, but also to create items that will fit your face shape and bring out your best features.
Even though it may be tempting to save your money and avoid designer sunglasses and their high price tags, the truth is that designer frames and lenses are definitely worthwhile. Not only will they look better, but they'll also last longer and provide you with better protection from the sun's harsh rays.
